Pours hazy chestnut colour with a moderate head that makes its way down to just a thin ring. Minimal spotty lace.

Aroma is just a whiff of spice, earthiness, alcohol. A touch of sweet malt, too

Lots of caramel malt to taste. Undertstated spice (thank goodness). Earthiness from pumpkin. Dark fruit. And alcohol. Mouthfeel is quite soft, a little bit of creaminess keeps iit from being thin bodied.

An evenhanded approach to a pumpkin brew, quite drinkable. Not overly spiced. A little too boozy for a 6% brew, though. Alcohol just a little too present.

Pours a murky brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Small particles of sediment are seen floating around after the pour. Smell is of toasted malt, biscuit, earthy pumpkin, and some spice aromas. Taste is much the same with a toasty and spice finish. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

Poured chilled into a snifter.

Pours a medium brown with an inch of airy tan head that quickly recedes and leaves little to no surface layer or lacing.

Aromas of pumpkin, spice and carmel malts.

Taste follows through from the aromas. Spice, carmel, vanilla and pumpkin and a nutty background.

Body is light to medium with moderate carbonation. It does have a nutty aftertaste that lingers, that I personally didn't care for.

Overall a good representation of the style. Nothing really sticks out, but nothing is overdone either, which can be a problem with some pumpkin beers.

A - Pours a slightly hazy dark amber colour, finger of head with solid retention and no real lacing.

S - Heavily spiced, with cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves coming through alongside a light earthy pumpkin scent.

T - Much like the nose, but the spicing is pleasant rather than overpowering. The earthy pumpkin comes through on the finish with a touch of leafy greens, vanilla, and buttery caramels.

M - Medium bodied, a tad prickly and finishes wet.

O - Overall a tasty pumpkin ale that is surprisingly well balanced, and doesn't overwhelm the palette with spicing. Easily sessioned and well worth trying out if you're a pumpkin ale fan.

No freshness date on the bottle. ABV is listed at 6% rather than 5.6% (may be the result of LCBO lab testing).

Beer is an orange-brown colour with a moderately sized off-white head. Head dissipates quickly.

Nose contains cinnamon, clove, pumpkin, nutmeg. The expected pumpkin ale scents. Good.

Like the nose, the first thing I get is cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. The pumpkin is right behind. The orange peel comes through a bit as well. Spices are dominant, but not overwhelming. Quite a nice pumpkin ale.

Medium bodied, moderate to high carbonation, chewy.

Overall, a good pumpkin ale. Nothing revolutionary but tasty.

Tasted On: 12-05-2012
Freshness: Not indicated
Packaging: 750ml orange painted bottle, pry-cap
Glassware: Tulip pint
Purchased: Single from Midtown, Nashville

A: Brown/orange beer with hazy clarity. The head is 2 fingers high, tan, with good lacing and a fair amount of retention.

S: Big pumpkin aromas, with pumpkin pie spices such as nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice and clove. Smells overall are sweet and malty, with not much hop aroma.

T: Taste is sweet and spicy with a lot of pumpkin flavor. Also has a vanilla note. Sweet but not cloying.

M: Medium in body and in carbonation, the finish is malty sweet and has lots of pumpkin pie spice notes.

O: Very good pumpkin ale -- it packs a lot of flavor in for a lower-ABV brew.

750ml bottle poured into a pint glass
A: Orange-ish brown with a 1/2-finger head that quickly settles.
S: Distinct pumpkin smell along with the full range of pumpkin pie spices (cinnamon/ginger/nutmeg/clove), each distinct. And I'll be damned if the evaporated milk, egg and pie shell aren't there too. This really does show every one of the aromas of each ingredient of a pumpkin pie, of which I've made dozens. Great job, Rogue!
T: The spices are a bit heavy in the overall balance. But the authentic tasting pumpkin is there and it's pleasant overall.
M: Again a bit heavy with a spicy kick and I'd prefer it to be a little more creamy (feels a bit thin) but in general I can't complain.
O: I really like the bottle and the amount of detail it explains as to how/where it's made and it's composition. I LOVE the nose. Though the flavors/mouthfeel are a bit unbalanced towards the spicy side and I wish it looked nicer, overall one of the better pumpkin beers I've had this year though, all things considered.

750ml orange paint covered bottle into a snifter. Wow the packaging here sure is a standout when sitting on the shelf. I hope other brewers dont follow this format and turn the beer isles into a crayola box. The brew pours a clouded amber brown color. A finger of creamy off-white head appears across the top and fades to a thin ring.

The nose smells of cinnamon and fruity to citrus hops mixed with something like ginger zest. There is an earthen element running throughout the profile like the expected minorly vegetative inclusion of punpkin. Some caramel to toffee grain is alsp present before the onset of solvent alcohol.

The flavor is full of biscuit sort of grain quality and earthy to vegetative pumpkin flesh. There is some accenting cinnamon spice and fruity tinges that creep into more of a veggie aspect towards the back. As more sips are taken, some caramel to vanilla sweetness comes out and the aftertaste includes a minor nutmeg flavoring.

This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. It is smooth and easy drinking. Overall it is a pretty average pumpkin offering. I probably would not buy this again despite it's eye catching appeal on the shelf.

Hazy deep amber/orange colour, ring of off white head, little lace as well. Smell is spicy with lots of distinct pumpkin flesh, caramel, nutmeg and a touch of cinnamon with a bit of a hop kick here as well. Taste is lots of pumpkin spice up front, cinnamon, clove, mid palate sweetness, followed by a delicious and welcomed caramel malty flavour that sort of cuts through the pumpkin spice. Lightly carbonated, medium body, good weight. Quite the nice pumpkin beer even at a point when I was growing tired of pumpkin beers, flavourful and quite drinkable but due to pice point and bottle size I don't think me and this beer will be crossing paths again.
