Pours a deep reddish-brown with ruby edges. Small cream colored head which doesn't stick around. Decent lacing. No noticeable haze but the color is dark enough that I can't see through it all the way.

Some piney hop aromas. Slightly earthiness and some spiciness.

Spicy flavor to start. Pepper, pine and smoke. Crisp malt. Caramel and leather.

Crisp mouth feel, somewhat thin bodied. Noticeable carbonation.

Overall, some interesting flavors but it didn't seem to blend very well. Each was a distinct piece rather than melding together into a whole.

22 Oz Bomber poured a nice dark brown with a creamy two finger head. Good head retention and excellent lacing.

Smell of malt up front, with a little alcohol, not an overpowering aroma. Some of the others compare it to a brown ale, but it has a little more spice than that. Some pepper.

Taste is very mild, with an earthy overtone. I cannot go as far as some to say I taste the rye, but it is a very pleasant flavor.

Mouthfeel is full bodied to me, with a little chewiness, good carbonation, very smooth and satisfying finish.

Overall, I like this, it has more to offer spice wise than the Hazelnut Brown, but is different in its own right. I think the use of quality ingredients is what sets this apart. I would go again on this one.

Poured from bottle to pint glass

A- pours a hazy murky brown color with a two-finger foamy and creamy off-white head that retains nicely, long after the pour 4

S- spicy and peppery rye up front with some nutty aromas, sweet caramel malt with some floral hop bitterness on the backend 3.5

T- malty and sweet with some nutty flavors that is very similar to a brown ale. The peppery rye kicks in mid-palate, closing with some floral/herbal hop bitterness 3.5

M- medium body and carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a smooth and creamy finish 4.5

O- this is my first roggenbier, so I didn't know what exactly to expect. It actually drinks like a hoppy, peppery brown ale. Overall, it's not very complex, but quite drinkable 3.5
