750 ml bottle into signature pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours moderately hazy golden straw color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, bread, cracker, honey, floral, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance of hop, malt, and yeast notes; with good strength. Spot on aromas. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, bread, cracker, floral, grass, honey, pepper, toast, and yeast earthiness. Light earthy pepper bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of light fruits, bread, cracker, toast, floral, grass, pepper, honey, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance of malt, hop, and yeast flavors; with good robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and crisp mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent kolsch style. All around great balance and robustness of malt, hop, and yeast flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. Really enjoyed this one.

A- Hazy golden yellow in color with a thin white head that all but disappears. Very little lacing on the glass.

S- Very malty right away. Also some floral, earthy hops, maybe saaz? Do not seem to be getting any of the honey, although not that surprising.

T- Taste is more complex than the smell, and much more enjoyable at that. Starts in a similar manner that is malty but quickly transitions to a sweet middle. Some citrus in the middle as well as a lemon test is apparent. Sweetness continues into the end with some floral hop taste and slight bitterness. Slight honey in the end, but very little.

Mouthfeel- Thin in body, probably aided by the honey, with thin carbonation. Nice dry finish.

Overall- Good drinkable beer, and edging towards a lawnmower beer if it isn't already there. Nice beer for the summer.

eyes...
2 fingers of sizzlin white stuff, aggressively crackling, lacing is not all too much here, the head settles down to nearly zippo in a matter of moments, near to clear straw color, a central circle of bubbles emanates from the bottom center of the glass pacing well to the top

nose...
initially dry mold (in a pleasant way) lofting off into sweetness, faint touches of euro hop (herbal/earthy), nothing spectacular but nice and good for the style

taste etc...
refreshing soda pop like carbonation keeping it light and spritzy, kind of kolsch light, some kolschs have a strange aftertaste (for me) but this is pleasant and of course has that honey finish which is really delicious, there is some mild bitterness that is in total balance with the malts and honey notes.

verdict?
good beer done well, easy drinking, smooth and tasty enough. super pleasant brew. not one of my stellar reviews but this beer is just... really damn good!

Pint glass full of Honey Kolsch. Here we go.

Light yellowish hue with some golden tones. Greasy foam leaves a plaster coating on the surface and leans on the walls of the glass, but none of the bubbles dry to stick. Has a good haze to it, as well as lots of bubble streams.

Drier aromas than expected with notes of floral hops, honeysuckle, lemon candy, grassiness, and pale malts. The nose, overall, is very light, but very pleasant. In a word, 'benign'.

Leafiness from hops with lots of floral notes and light lemony character. Decent dose of grassy pale maltiness with a few esters thrown about here and there. Not particularly the fruity kind, but the yeast is laboring obviously. Has a raw honey flavor that couples with barley malt sweetness to assume a fuller role. A nice additive in a kolsch, and I approve of this particular result.

The body is clean and palatable; I could slug this out of a wide-mouthed can, no problem. Watch out, though; that carbonation is out to get you. Lots of bursting crackle and pop all in the folds of the mouth. Quite a lovely and bright fizziness. Mouthfeel gets two thumbs up.

I've had quite a few kolsches, and this one wants to stick with me. It's a good one. Not a departure from a sturdy German example, and a lot better than many of the American 'light' variants that I've had. I like the crispness of the hops, the almost-unrelenting bitterness, and the flavors are right as rain. Well done.

Honey Kolsch pours a hazy yellow color with a large lacing head. There is a malty with very subtle hints of honey. The taste is nice and crisp, good malt base, and nice honey notes. Nice flavors, honey isn't overpowering, however beer is a little flat. Overall a nice sweet and refreshing beer.

Delicate, soft, floral and highly refreshing- Rogue does what Rogue does. They bring a sensibility to the frantic craft beer market that resist the craze for outrageous taste, but rather offers up an artistic brew, backed by quality and excelled by down-home agriculture.

The light ale pours with a delicate yellow color and the most modest of haze. Its dainty white foam rises softly up the glass before reversing trend and falling to a sheet to stay firm thereafter. Light spotty lace clings to the glass as the beer quickly fades.

Faint grain and bread scents are woven together with the unmistakable floral and perfume of honey. Notes of orange blossoms, honeysuckle and flower peddles waft about the nose as light lemongrass and herbal basil characteristics arise from its earthen spiciness.

To taste, much of that finesse is overwhelmed by the honey sweetness. Its sweet flavor is mostly honey but is also of barley- all leaning heavy on the early palate. Midway through, the ale releases its sweetness just a bit, allowing herbal and earthy spices to fold in. A lingering sulfur and mineral note nods toward lagers but still retains that honey-sweetened edge.

Medium-light in body, the ale resembles those lagerish Kolsch ales but their fruit, spice and modest heft tells the tongue that there's something fuller here. But as the carbonation subsides, the weight of honey and grain sweetness is finally felt. And that lingering texture is modestly warm and smooth as velvet and powdered sugar.

I absolutely adore this ale! Its delicate non-dry character is quirky, charming, and friendly. Perhaps I'm a sucker for sweetness- but this beer was build for a honey-soaked face lift.
