This pours a deep black colour with a creamy tan head. Decent head retention.

Moderate roast aroma with light malt and nuts.

Punchy, roast and coffee flavour. Nice underlying sweetness which is balanced by enough hop bitterness. Very good.

A smooth, medium-full body supports moderate carbonation. Good.

A tasty and full flavoured stout. There is much to like here.

On tap at the pub, first schooner of the evening.

Poured into a schooner glass - deep chestnut-black, creamy nitro-pour head, great retention as to be expected. Looks like a milk stout should.

Nose is cream, roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, coffee - all of my favorite things.

A great stout, sweet and milky, yet dry enough not to become cloying. Rich malt, cream and coffee-chocolate flavors, with some nice mild hopping to the finish. Reminds me a great deal of McAuslan's Oatmeal Stout, and that is a very good thing. Creamy, silky, a bit chalky, but otherwise a solid feel.

A great brew to start my Wig and Pen tasting session. Hard to find a fault with this brew - rich, flavorful, easy to drink. All I ask for in a stout.

Deep brown to black. Really nice stout. Smell of roasted malt and chocolate. very chcocolatey and roasty, with a soft, rounded mouthfeel. Some tart acidity surprisingly. Finish is bitter and rich. A lovely stout, one of my fave Aussie beers. Had at the Brissy Festival of beers.

The plastic cup will have had an affect on this, and it was a little cold, but I really enjoyed this.
Quite creamy in the mouth and a great lack of carbonation, really took me back to ales and stouts consumed in the UK.
Black in colour with those lovely aromas and tastes of a good stout, lots of chocolate and roast. These guys keep getting it right...

My last beer of the evening; as such my reviewing skills may have been compromised.
Yet, this was such a remarkable stout, I will not forget it in a hurry.
Arguably the best of its class in the country, it's as dark as night, but as smooth as you can imagine.
Beautiful iced coffee / chocolate icecream flavours, with an excellent balance of sweetness & bitterness.
Wonderful beer. Highly recommended.
On this trip I was unable to taste the seasonal (and exceptional) Russian Imperial Stout, yet the Velvet Cream is worth the trip in its own right.

Pours very, very dark, almost impenetrable colour. Very little head, but nicely dense that looks like foam on a macchiato. Can't see any carbonation of course.

Smells of dark roasted coffee. Slight toffee aroma as well, not bad at all. Nicely complex with a sweet and dark fragrance. Great shit.

Very roasted coffee flavour, really quite intense to begin with. But not unpleasant, like it's not like there's only a roasted flavour, there's a slight fresh, organic, herbaciousness to it on the mid, with more complex over-roasted toffee aroma as well. Pleasant flavour, not much of a profile to it though.

Mouthfeel is nicely smooth and velvety. This is quite impressive as a stout, goes down fairly smooth, but maybe a bit too intense to be drunk all the time.

Tried at the W+P, Feb 06.

Absolutely pitch black colour, with a thick, creamy-as-hell coffee coloured head. Looks solid in the glass. Very enticing and intriguing.

Smoke coffee flavoured nose, hints of chocolate, spicy mead aromas and roasted red meats. This is an amazing aroma. So rich and complex. I'm not usually much of a stout drinker, but I want to appreciate this.

Long creamy roasted malt palate. Beautiful notes of smokiness, a really beautiful rich dark, dark chocolate mid palate, smoothing out to a creamy smooth dry finish. Mouthfeel is exceptional. This is a really tasty brew.

This is something I could enjoy a great deal of.

From notes, Reviewed as part of a Wig-and-Penathon tasting Sat Oct 1st , between myself and mrs heygeebee

Pours a two finger swirling creamy head from nitro, over a deep black body.

Sensational looking. Lacing stays all glass.

Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, and freshly laid tar.

Taste is chocolate, pistachio, cream. Smooth malty taste for the most part, only becomes bitter toward end of glass

Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy

Overall, almost worth the drive alone.

Dense black stout, thick dark brown nitro'd head. This is the way a stout should look, all creamy from the nitro, doing that backwards settling thing.
Aroma: Sweet, malty, coffee aromas, chocolate, roasted malts, slight vanilla and minerally.
Flavour: Roasted malts all the way, mouthfilling, full flavoured, not watery. Sweet maltiness, caramel, smooth, dark crystal biscuity, slight maple syrup.
Beats the shit out of Guinness by a million miles!
