Notes/Commercial Description:
This light golden Pilsner lets the natural taste of our pure, deep rock well water shine through and highlights the plentiful whole flower Spalt hops. Route 52 is no weak, timid American lager. In combination with the traditional European Pils Malt and Bohemian lager yeast, we have created a clean, crisp and very flavorful beer.

This beer poured a slightly cloudy, pale straw color with light hints of brown. The head was a flat film of white that left behind little specks of lace.

Smelled of wheat and pale, doughy lager malts with hints of not-so-sweet watermelon and a slight pineapple dryness.

Tasted of a light and easy, sweet malt base consisting of doughy lager malts, under-ripe strawberries and watermelon rind followed by a nice and subtle birch bark dryness.

The mouth feel was medium boded and slightly viscous with a light and playful carbonation.

What really sets this beer aside is how sweet and easy it is for the style. It seems to me that a lot of local pilsners are pushing the limits of a comfortable hop load. This take on the style is far less bitter with a greater emphasis on the simple sweetness of the malt. My palate seemed to take to this rendition better than it did to a great deal of others.

Had this on-tap at Home Grown Cafe in Newark, DE.

Nice golden color with a decent, bright white head. Left some good lacing. The aroma was a fresh, spicy herbal scent with a touch of fruit. The flavor was pretty good, with a nice sweet malt flavor complemented by the spicy herbal hops. Nice mouthfeel with excellent carbonation. Very easy drinking brew.

tasted fresh at the brewery opening. it is a handsome-looking pilsner, but in terms of flavor and aroma, it's pretty much standard for the style. that said, like all their beers, it is best tasted while enjoying a walk around the scenic Greenville lakefront brewing property. this beer seems to be fairly popular in the local Wilmington beer bars, which is encouraging, but for the best that Greenville has to offer, try their pale instead.

quite drinkable, as pilsners tend to be, but this isn't really my favorite style of beer.
