Greenville Pale Ale is a traditional, American-style Pale Ale that is rooted in the Pacific Northwest brewing tradition. We use whole flower Cascade hops and American two-row barley malt to produce a light amber ale that is medium bodied with a significant floral-citrus hop essence and aroma that makes it extremely drinkable and refreshing. One of our brewers said “You should name a beer after the town it’s brewed in.” So we did. This is our signature brew. Greenville Pale Ale represents both our local roots in Greenville, Delaware and our interest in “green” technology for the future.

The prize pick from one of those mystery bags from Outlet Liquors, Rehoboth DE. (The other 3 were absolute duds!)

From the can it pours a clear golden color with visible carbonation. A moderate bubbly head displays good retention.

The nose highlights the hops; herbaceous and with bright citrus tones. The aromas are floral and grassy with notes of grapefruit, lemon and orange.

The taste opens hops forward, bitter and dry on the palate. Medium bodied with a lively carbonation and crisp mouthfeel. The balance of flavors begins with spicy and piney hops that prickle the tongue against a dry cracker malt backbone. The finish is likewise spicy and dry with a clean bitterness. Bright citrus flavors of grapefruit, orange and lemon begin to open up. Similarly, as the mouthfeel begins to smooth out, modest caramel and honey malt sweetness add more balance to the bitterness of the hops. Thus, this drink grows unto itself and eventually yields a fine malt to hops balanced associated with the pale ale style.

This ended up being a nice little Pale Ale. Easy to drink and refreshing; I wouldn’t mind having again.

This is a local beer for me here in northern Delaware. This is a solid beer but not very exciting. I don’t smell or taste citrus. I get bready and grassy and malty in the smell. Taste is hopped malt with a bitter finish. Easy to drink but not my favorite.

Pours a murky light brownish gold with smallish head that went away and left just a few spots of lace. Nose is very muted. Only a slight whiff of earthy hops with a touch of citrus. Taste is also fairly light and quite earthy. I don't know what hops are used here, but it seems more like an English pale ale than an APA. Unfortunately, there just isn't much here. Overall, a bit disappointing.

Aroma is slightly sweet and floral, with a grainy malt character and, pine, and citrus pith.

Flavor is fairly balanced between malt and hops. Bready malt forms the backbone, and accents of resin and very subtle citrus are accompanied by fresh cut grass. The finish is slightly bitter.
