Named after the historic Tweeds Tavern, one of the earliest breweries in Delaware, Tweeds Tavern Stout is an American stout fashioned in the Pacific Northwest style. It features a complex blend of the freshest American ingredients including black roasted barley, black malt, rolled oats, red wheat with Cascade and Galena hops. Our stout is mellow and mild with pleasant, roasted coffee and chocolate elegance and smoothly balanced body. It produces a thick, rich, foamy, mocha head that clings to the glass. People who say they don’t like dark beers are surprised once they taste our stout and experience for themselves how delicious and drinkable it is.

64oz growler, filled 11/28/12, drank 11/30/12
EVO pint glass

A: Pours a really dark brown. Opaque, can't see anything through it. Full finger of middle tan head. Some reddish hues on edges.

S: Light roasted malts. Some coffee. Some chocolate. Very light.

T: Not the most complex brew. You get some dark chocolate bitterness on the tip of the tongue. You get that roasted flavor that you smelled. Mid palate it sort of falls flat. Needs more body. but it is a low ABV stout. Fairly dry finish.

M: Medium bodied.

Had on tap at Brews by the Bay

A: Pours a deep brown, practically black with a small tan head on top that reduces to a thin cap on top. Sporadic lacing.

S: Lots of roasted malt and tons of chocolate.

T: Tastes just like the aroma, lots of chocolate with a bit of roast backing it up. Hint of smoke on the finish.

M: Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation.

O: Pretty good stout, was surprised at how chocolaty it was.

Growler to a pint glass

Pours an ink black with chestnut brown highlights around the edges. A two finger mocha brown cap rises and falls, leaving some spider web lacing behind.

The aroma is subtle. Roasted malt, cocoa powder, rolled oats, and a touch of smoke.

The flavor profile is follows the nose. This is oatmeal stout meets irish dry stout. Rolled oats and cocoa powder up front before dark roast and smoke take you to the finish.

Medium feel with low carbonation, smooth. Decent feel.

This is a nice beer, but nothing overly special. Average to above average across the board.

Poured straight from the Firkin and a Firkin tapping party at Kildare's Irish Pub in Newark Delaware.

Pours dark with a full finger of creamy head. The bouquet of coffee and cocoa linger. Body is smooth. Taste notes of coffee and dark chocolate across the palate with a clean sweet earthy finish.

I enjoyed this dish paired perfectly with sugarcane shrimp and honey glazed chicken breast over a bead of roasted vegetables and rice. After dinner I enjoyed this stout in an amazing Tweeds Tavern Float. TT Stout, Marble Slab dark chocolate and hopped vanilla ice cream with a honey drizzle.

One of the best stouts ever!

served on-tap in a shaker glass.

black, opaque, with 1/2" off-white head. good head retention as I drink. aroma is pretty roasty, with notes of coffee.

for a simple description, I'd say the taste is a cross between an oatmeal stout and dry irish stout. a mix of the sweet oats and dry bitter roasted malt.

smooth mouthfeel, lower carbonation typical for the style.

overall, a good first impression from this brewery, but nothing over the top.

This beer poured a jet black with a creamy dark brown head that fell to a film in no time.

Smells super smoky with huge amounts of roasted malts and a touch of baking cocoa. There’s also a hint of lime here.

Tastes of big charred barley with a slight touch of sourness, like old coffee. The smokiness here is really spot on. It’s not charred to ashtray proportions and it isn’t to weak and sour. This one’s really well done. Also, in the finish, a little bitter chocolate creeps in.

The mouth feel was light to medium bodied and it felt slick in my mouth. The carbonation was light and thin.

This one’s nice and smoky and really excellent for the style.
