I'm thirsty, and I found a Heinnie in the fridge. In this case, the beer is Heinieweisse, not Heineken. Out of a 12 ounce can, on to the beer:

A little hazy inside that body. Its color is like pale golden straw and many visible carbonation bubbles run through this beer. On top rests a soapy head which does retain well and leaves a few spots of lace. The aroma is mediocre. There are some watered down banana and clove notes, but it doesn't hit the crescendo that the German counterparts hit.

Heinnieweisse is unusual. It has the aspects of a watered down Bavarian hefeweizen and the added touch of tartness of a saison. I don't particularly love it or hate it, but at least the beer preserves an easy drinking aspect.

Packaged 6/18/14.

Pours a hazy light yellow with a foamy white head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, earth, spice, and yeast aromas. Taste is much the same with grain and spice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that seems pretty basic, but it's fairly tasty and refreshing for what it is.

Can packaged (date illegible) at 40 degrees into weizen glass (But the 3 other beers in this mixed 12-pack were packaged on 5/21/14 and 5/22/14.)
Aroma of malt and yeast
Head large (5.5 cm), white, frothy, rapidly diminishing to a broken 3 mm layer
Lacing poor – few small islands with mostly small bubbles
Body light yellow, hazy
Flavor begins lightly sweet followed by a short burst of sourness (quite nice), some yeast phenolics, a little graininess; no alcohol, no hops, no diacetyl.
Palate light to medium, watery, soft carbonation.

Another pretty damn good beer from Butternuts, easily as good as any German weizen/hefeweizen, fantastic for the price point.
