Unmarked can at 40 degrees into Duvel snifter
Aroma slightly grainy.
Head large (6.5 cm), white, creamy, slowly diminishing to
Lacing excellent – thick rings and islands of small bubbles
Body medium yellow, slight chill haze
Flavor good – odd taste of ginger which overpowers any hops, begins with an even odder taste of squash as part of the graininess but maybe the squashiness is just suggestion from the brewery name. No hops, no alcohol, no diacetyl.
Palate light to medium, watery, soft carbonation.

This meets the definition of American Pale Ale (sort of) with the maltiness more prevalent than the hops. For me, this is just so odd that I find it crushable. What I define as the squash flavor probably isn’t; more likely what I notice is the graininess. The appearance, head, lacing, and palate are all more typical of an APA than is the flavor. This beer is just weird enough to be really good.

12 oz. can poured into a pilsner glass.

Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy amber with a pillowy white head with good retention. Carbonation is heavy.

Aroma: Slightly floral in nature, with a big malt presence.

Taste: Malt, malt, malt. This beer has a nice big malty flavor up front with some breadiness and floralness in the background. They aren't kidding with the little emblem on the can that say "all malt." Also some slight spiciness, especially on the finish.

Mouthfeel: This is a pleasure to drink - the depth and balance are just right.

Overall: Pretty terrific pale ale in a can. Hard to say "no" to this. A great all purpose ale; I paired it with lentil tacos and guacamole and it was perfect. I venture it'd be a great match for most meals.
