Pours a hazy honey orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, earth, floral, and herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with earth and herbal hop flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an average beer with a super malty presence that overpowers the hops in this one.

Unmarked can at 40 degrees into Duvel snifter
Aroma slightly grainy.
Head large (6.5 cm), white, creamy, slowly diminishing to
Lacing excellent – thick rings and islands of small bubbles
Body medium yellow, slight chill haze
Flavor good – odd taste of ginger which overpowers any hops, begins with an even odder taste of squash as part of the graininess but maybe the squashiness is just suggestion from the brewery name. No hops, no alcohol, no diacetyl.
Palate light to medium, watery, soft carbonation.

This meets the definition of American Pale Ale (sort of) with the maltiness more prevalent than the hops. For me, this is just so odd that I find it crushable. What I define as the squash flavor probably isn’t; more likely what I notice is the graininess. The appearance, head, lacing, and palate are all more typical of an APA than is the flavor. This beer is just weird enough to be really good.
