A: Poured into a pint glass. Body is slightly cloudy, golden-honey in color with a 1.5-finger foamy ivory head with decent staying power. Settles slowly to a craggly small cap, leaving behind some sheets of lacing.

S: Not terribly strong in the nose, but what's there is citrusy -- grapefruit, maybe even tangerine or orange zest -- and grassy hops.

T: Interesting. First impression is that it manages to be a lot of things all at once -- honeyish sweet malt up front with a wet, juicy, citrusy feel in the middle and a dry, slightly piney or grassy finish. Also a spicy, peppery bite towards the end, presumably from the alcohol, the warmth of which is felt in the belly.

M: Lighter than expected, heft-wise. Starts out with a prickly carbonation, becomes creamy as it coats the mouth, finishes somewhat dry.

D: OK. Not the best IPA I've ever had, but certainly not the worst.

Edit, July 2013: I've lowered some of the scores on this one, as the last few cans I've had have been quite bad. Not sure if I got a bad batch or what, but it suggests quality control is an issue here. I actually drain-poured a can of this recently.

12 oz can, no date

pours a clear golden color, with bone-white head. very good head retention and a bit of lacing. not much hop aroma for an IPA. not much in the taste either. a bit of malt flavor, and a bit of earthy hop flavor. thin body, medium carbonation.

either this can is pretty old, or it didn't start off great.

Undated can at 35 degrees into imperial pint glass
Aroma of apples
Head large (6 cm), off white, creamy, very slowly diminishing to a 3 mm layer.
Lacing good, many islands and reefs of small to medium bubbles
Body medium orange, hazy
Flavor begins with both bitter and sour overtones; not really sure what I’m tasting. There is no distinct fruit, pine, or flower taste; no alcohol, no diacetyl, no malt. This definitely leaves an unpleasant aftertaste with a very long hang time.
Palate medium, watery, soft carbonation.

This has a very pleasing appearance, aroma, and palate. However, the flavor is pretty bad, making me long for a lot of diacetyl or skunkiness. Definitely a Jekyll and Hyde experience.
