Another guy in a can that I'm excited to try. Can features a hilarious cartoon cow dodging a black lightening bolt - I gotta show this pack around for the some laughs. I don't know why they felt it necessary to print on the side that the beer contains 150 calories, 8 grams of carbs and 1 gram of protein, and 0 grams of fat, but it just adds to the fun quirkiness. Pours your standard stout black with a brown foaming head. Smells of dark chocolate but not much else. Tastes great: yes on the dark chocolate, expresso, charred steak. Thick mouthfeel but not as dense as some in its class, which I suppose makes it more drinkable than most in its class. I'll buy another pack and bring it out with friends.

12 oz. can into a can-shaped glass.

A: Pours a deep brown with a thin khaki head, small patches of lacing remain on the glass.

S: Nice chocolate and some nuttiness are most prominent, a bit of coffee as well.

T: Some nuttiness starts on the palate and the chocolate comes through. Not overly sweet but enjoyable tastes do come through.

M: Medium bodied and smooth, easy drinking with a creamy finish and low bitterness.

O: A decent everyday stout that I'd try again. Far from the best of the style, but definitely worth a try.

A: Dark brown, but not black. Pours with a 2 1/2 finger light tan head that recedes really quickly. Leaves no lacing on the glass.

S: Slight chocolate tones. Nothing dominate in the smell. Maybe a hint of fruit.

T: The taste follows the nose - there is just not that much complexity. Slight bitter chocolate. Maybe a little smoke. Even as it warms I am not getting anything different.

M: Initial mouth feel is very smooth. Then there is a slight feel of carbonation at the back.

O: I had hoped for this to be a winner. I am always pulling for beer from my area. This is an okay brew - but not my favorite in this category.

Pour: Extremely dark, almost black with hints of brown near the edges. A whole lot of cream-colored head that fades slowly, leaving a bit of lacing.

Aroma: Chocolate malts are very strong up front, as well as a ton of coffee. There’s a nuttiness in the background, too, and a touch of bitterness, which actually pairs itself with the coffee.

Taste: The coffee becomes the frontrunner in the flavor, but not all the chocolate is lost. There is a nice sweetness to this from the unfermentable sugar, and a nice bit of balancing bitterness at the end. The beer has a flavor reminiscent of dark chocolate covered espresso beans.

Overall: This is, honestly, way better than I expected. I’ve had Pork Slap Pale Ale, and was thoroughly underwhelmed, but this stout is pretty excellent. It’s not the best milk stout in the world, but it's near the top of my budget beer list.
