This place is by far my favorite beer store in the Columbus area.
The beer selection is beyond what you would expect when walking into the place. There is a nice selection of singles, and a 10-door walk-in cooler that is filled primarily with American craft brew. There are several display racks in the store featuring semi-local brews such as the "Mad Brewer" beers. There are 4 shelves dedicated to Belgian selections. These don't look like they get turned frequently, but Belgian beers generally age well anyhow.
The store also sells kegs, has an impressive wine selection, a humidor filled with specialty cigars, and a full liquor store. The homebrew supplies are located on the other side of the walk-in cooler, and they stock most any ingredient you would need for basic brews, whether you do extract or all-grain.
You can purchase items in the store, go through the drive through, or have it delivered - a nice option if you are having a party, which they can cater if asked. The staff is generally friendly, and they have one dedicated "beer guy", and one dedicated "wine guy". The store hosts both beer and wine tastings every Thursday and Friday, with a nice crowd of regulars, most of them home brewers.
Pricing on many of the craft brews seems to be on-par with other Columbus area stores, however some of them are 5%-15% higher. Guinness and Hennepin seem to be in this category. Prices on the homebrew supplies are very reasonable, with many of the items priced lower than online suppliers.
Overall a fantastic stop, I have been attending their tastings for about a year and a half now and I plan on continuing. Stop by and ask to be put on their email list. You will get one email per week regarding the tastings that week, any new specialty brews in the store, and any beer related news that week. I hope to see you around at the tastings!

Just getting around to reviewing this place, but it has been my "local" for 6 months or so. Located on the Blacklick/Reynoldsburg area, just outside of the 270 bypass, this place is convenient to my work and easy to get to from 270 or 70. I have never used it, but they also offer a drive thru.
The selection of craft beer here is on par with any other store in the Columbus area and better than many. As you walk in, the entire wall of coolers on the left is beer, mainly craft. There is also a small section of some beers in the right most cooler in the wine room. There are 3 end caps with room temperature beers; mostly singles and Belgians. The selection is a solid representation of what is available in the region with a pretty good rotation of gems.
Service here is good to great. Everyone is friendly and helpful, but not everyone is a beer geek. This is a state liquor agency (only place in Ohio allowed to sell the hard stuff) and a wine store, so some of the staff is more knowledgable in those areas. If you want to talk beer, ask for Joe.
All in all, I have been very pleased with Blacklick and all my purchases from here. I occasionally hit up some other stores just to see who has what, but spend most of my beer budget here.

"Yeah, I'll take a 6 of Ruination and a 4 of Double-Trouble to go?!" This place is the first craft-beer place I've seen with a drive thru. This is probably the best beer store I've yet found in Columbus, although my exploration is so far limited to this spot, From the Vine, and a few area grocery stores.
This is a state-owned l;iquor store, but has a decent amount of cooler and warm space devoted to beer. As you enter, there's a small cooler of imports, as you go deeper in the store there's a long beer cooler along your left, and there's warm storage of bombers and 12oz singles to your right and front. You can mix and match a 6-pack from a small selection on a shelf. Prices are a tad high, but pretty typical for a specialty shop.
The help here is pretty transparent. They all seem young, and the place is usually busy enough they seem to be occupied with just keeping the registers and drive-through running.
I'm not exactly blown away by this store, but as I said, it is the best I've yet found in Columbus. And happily for me, it is conveniently located on my way home! Based on selection, value, and convenience, I will no doubt return to this store again and again.

This seems to be the only place around Columbus where I can get a pony keg. The store is great and seems to pretty packed everytime I'm there. Walking in there is a nice wine room on the left. A great selection of brew here most of it is in the row of coolers lined up.
A great selection of singles that's always changing. Also a good selection of liquors and some nice cigars as well. Service is also top notch if you get the right guy. Joe knows his brews well and will be more than happy to take of you but some of his staff seem to be a little clueless at times.
A very solid place that I will come back to for sure from time to time. If you're ever out east a must stop for sure. Oh there's also a driver through which is again pretty cool.

Found out about this place while driving back from Akron, Oh. I'm always up for hunting down a beer store, and was very impressed with this State run store. Upon entering, there is a wine tasting area to the left. To the right, a huge stock of behind the counter liquors. As I continued my walk to the back of the store, I was spotted by a huge cooler section, filled to the brim with 4/6 packs galore. All sorts of great stuff from Founders, Bells, Great Lakes, Avery, Goose Island, and many others. There are also a couple shelves full of beer singles stored at room temperature. They have decent selection of belgians as well as some harder to find lambics. I stumbled across an unlabeled bottle, and asked the store clerk what it was. He had no idea. To add to that, I don't think he had any idea about any of the beers. To that I was a little disappointed but fortunately enough it really wouldn't have mattered as I know what I'm looking for. I left with a founders 4 pack of their elusive Imperial Stout (was shocked), and a 4 pack of Cane and Ebel, my favorite rye beer. All in all I would the trip was worth the drive, and would be up for stopping by again.

I would have never known about this place were it not for BA...so a big "thanks" to BA and those who previously reviewed it!
Right in the door, there are wines to the left and a tasting island, with some coolers containing some bombers and pints. Straight ahead and along the wall, loads and loads of beers in the wall coolers. Tons of craft/micro/import sixers....far too many to even begin to try and recall....Pretty decent selection of non-coolered singles and bombers as well. All of the standard state liquor store booze to boot.
I was immediately greeted upon entering by a man working on the floor. He casually chatted me up about what I might be looking for, what I liked, offered suggestions, talked about their beer tasting events, tasting favorites, etc., - all without being pretentious or pushy, and also while maintaining a genuinely pleasant and enthusiastic attitude about it all! Very refreshing attitude juxtaposed against what I'm used to encountering in just about any other retail setting.
What can I say? This seems like a top notch little spot to pick from a large variety of brews, they'll order in for you, they know their beers, and they hold regular beer tastings...what's more to want?
I am sure that I'll be back soon!

Blacklick Wine and Spirits is just off of 270 on Broad towards pataskala, close to the highway , which is nice.
They have a wonderful selection of cold beer as well as some uncommon belgian and french imports. The selection of singles is always impressive, with many of the higher priced brews available to try at one time or another (it is always changing). They specialize in american craft beers and always have a great selection, all cold.
Tastings are held every thursday and friday from 6-8pm with a wide menu of selections chosen, and great regulars to talk to about beers and brewing.
I just found out about the place about a year ago after living nearby for years and had no idea i had a gem of a store nearby. I highly recommend this place to anyone, especially if you are looking for great american craft brews.

Blacklick Wine & Spirits is on the east side of Columbus a few miles east of I-270 on Broad Street. There is a decent-sized private lot out front that is shared with some other places in the strip mall.
The interior is open and laid out well. Wine and spirits are near the entryway, with beer being in the left and rear of the store, most of it in coolers. There is a long counter along the right side of the store that almost looks like a bar.
The beer selection is very good. Lots to choose from representing the Ohio and Michigan regions, from GLBC, Bell's and Founders to goodies from further away like Avery, Rogue, Stone etc. Decent selection of imports from Belgium and the UK especially.
Service here is very good, and these people clearly care about the beers. Our first visit was during a "Dogfish Head and Cheese" tasting and it was great. They really went out of their way to get someone from DFH who could speak with authority on their beers and what complemented the flavors. BW&S does tastings very frequently judging from their mailing list.
Overall this place might be a haul for people not living on that end of the city but this place is definitely worth a trip.

Wow , I live 10 minutes away from this place and stopped in for the first time.
This is a state liquor store with a decent selection of wine and booze. The beer selection is the best on the east side.
I was asked if I needed help finding anything, I didn't. I'm not really sure if the beer guy would've helped me or not. I signed up for the E-mail newsletter.
Selection was top notch. They have no cooler space with BMC in the open!
Didn't really see value buys , or crazy markup.
I'll probably make most, if not all, of my beer purchases here.

Wow...what a gem! This place is right on East Broad Street so depending on the time of day, traffic could be a little dicey. It's in a little strip mall area so parking is nice and convienent.
When I walked in, I was greeted by 3 different people who asked if they could help me. I politely declined but it was nice to know I could approach them if I needed anything.
It's hard to remember everything they had but a great selection of sixers, bombers, and singles. They even had some Celebration which was kind of crazy seeing as it was April when I was there!
They have casual tasting every Friday and Saturday and a newsletter that highlights special events. It's worth the stop for me every time I'm in the area.
