A 375ml bottle with a best before date of 21st August 2022. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen stemmed glass.
Appearance: A dark ruby purple colour with a one finger pink-purple (like beetroot) colour head that dissipated fairly quickly while leaving sparse lacing.
Aroma: Tart cherry, raspberry, almonds, marzipan and funk.
Taste: Sweet tart cherry, almond, marzipan, oak, hints of vanilla and a lightly sour finish.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: Very nice and balanced kriek with great sweet, sour and marzipan flavours. I can just keep drinking this.

Really dark red color with pink head, looks gorgeous. Aroma is straight up cherry milk shake with vanilla notes, almonds and cherry pits. Taste starts slightly tart with intense cherries, cherry yogurt and almond flavor. Finish is slightly dry, bitter and dusty but the fruit flavor still dominates. Medium body, quite smooth on the palate even though it's well carbonated. Overall it's a really awesome fruit beer, really complex but well balanced.

Ruby raspberry red. Pink head.
Great kriek and the Chardonnay barrels add a nice layer. So much cherry pie flavor. Not acidic or tart. Very fruity.
Light bodied. Ends clean.
Very impressed with this one. This is a hidden gem. Wow!

L: Ruby red color with a cloudy dark red body with a pinkish head
S: Mostly cherry. Resiny and floral sweetness is instant.
T: It follows the nose. Mostly cherry with a touch of bubblegum and cloves. Some licorice smell to it. It's still a Spontan so there is this wild yeastery character to it. Very flavorful.
F: Not as heavily bodied as you might think. I'd say medium-bodied

this was the crown jewel in our tasting through this series, the amazing cherry frederiksdal sees a chardonnay barrel. thanks to my brother for sourcing this one, definitely a rarity and a real special beer. perhaps after 30 something other spontan beers is not the best time to appreciate it, but on the other hand, i think its the perfect time. gives context to it, thats for sure. the color is stunning, just like its base beer, its a cloudy thick bloody dark red, so packed with these special cherries as to not even look like a beer, although there is a thin pink head on top of it. it smells way less sour than the others in the series, a product of the cherry sweetness no doubt, but its not too sweet either. instead its funked to the max, farmy and rustic, with the cherry flavor leading the way and the brett and oak close behind. for me, the wine barrel is immediately obvious. there is a bright tannic cleanness to it, which almost doesnt belong in this type of wild beer, a crazy contrast. the fruitiness of it is also appreciated, gives a little more depth to the cherry and cuts the sweetness in the middle. overall though, as amazing as this beer is, im not sure it improved upon the base beer any. nice to have them side by side, but the regular fred might be the best kriek type ever made, and this one scales back the cherry just a bit, like a more mature version or something, less vibrant, but equally flavorful and intense. not real familiar with malaga, but i can see that one adding more of a port-like element, which would be delicious as well. have to track one of those down. this stands as one of the most unique beers i drank in 2015, a real beauty!!!
