Collaboration with Anchorage Brewing
This is similar to the original Beer Geek Breakfast. However this version is fermented entirely in oak tanks. The oak imparts a different flavour profile than the original.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, many say, and if you are a beer geek there is no better way to start the day than with a powerful, complex morning stout.
The unique mix of oats and coffee gives this beer large body and power, while the coffee, at the same time, creates a nice balance.

Holy sour infected coffee stout (in a good way)
18 months old bomber into a German Stein
L: Opens with a shotgun blast of the cork leaving a dent in the ceiling - we have a gusher! A quick pour into a 1/2 liter stein leaves 99% foam. Just enough of a pour to stop the bottle from staining the carpet - this beer is not behaving badly
S: This is supposed to be a clean beer, but it has obviously picked up something along the way. Wet oak, raisins, red wine and coffee - wow!
T: A nice tartness bordering on sour, no sweetness, oxidized coffee on the back end.
F: Obviously over carbonated, a bit slick, very thin
O: Clearly infected, but not necessarily in a bad way. BreAKfest failed to make a strong impression while fresh, the beer in front on me tonight is one I won't soon forget. A coffee sour stout. Unique and worth revisiting but not for the intended reasons. It comes together only if you have an open mind.

Brought back from Anchorage and cellared for a year, served at cellar temp in a snifter. Appearance is black, and pours a big, foamy head.
Smell is iced coffee and oak.
Taste is chocolaty, a decent punch of coffee, modest acidity, and fairly oaky, cherries and a little coconut.
Mouthfeel is soft, light and slippery. The oatmeal really shines.
Drinkability is pretty good. The body really helps, and the taste is pretty good, although it had a little to much oak I think.
