750ml opened at Trappist Provisions. Reviewed from notes.

Pours a near black color with a thin dark brown head. I get notes of heavily roasted coffee and rich chocolate on the nose. The flavor follows with huge notes of coffee and chocolate milkshake. The finish is strong with tons of bitter dark chocolate and coffee that lingering through to the aftertaste. Rich, medium-full body , but the mouthfeel is watery and thinner than I expected for a beer made with oatmeal. Moderate carbonation. Overall this was bitter and coffee forward, but not super oatmealy. Good but not as good as original.

Poured from bomber. Nice carbonation, pours black.

A- pours black with little to no head or lacing.

S- smells of coffee, bitter.

T- Bitter, nice coffee notes. Oak tanks provide little help here to the normal beer geek breakfast.

M- drinks lovely. Covers the mouth, not as thick as I was expecting.

O- I would drink it again but I would definitely buy the normal Mikkeller oatmeal stouts instead. Good but not well balanced enough to be great.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours pitch black with a 1/8" light brown head that dissipates to patches and a ring around the glass, leaving light lacing. Aroma is coffee forward with dark toasted malt and light cocoa. Flavor is toasted malt with moderate char, boiled coffee, hints of lactose. Finishes with light grassy hops, charred coffee and hops, long residual bitter aftertaste. Excellent creamy medium body I expect from oatmeal stouts and delivered nicely by this one. A great tasting coffee oatmal stout; I think the flavor is somewhat more intense than the Mikkeller brewed Beer Geek Breakfast, but the creamy body really seems to have a way of balancing and blending the flavors, which is true here. I found this had somewhat stronger flavor and a much better body than its breakfast cousin. Nice.

Nice dark almost black color and a good size foamy head to it. I thoroughly enjoyed this beer and for an oaked stout, it surprising got better as it went on, even though the oak was very present up front. The oak overpowered the coffee a bit too much though. The two flavors complemented each other quite well, but this would have been rated quite a bit higher if I could get more coffee out of it. I do just love coffee though.

A: Pitch black body with a small quickly receding tan head. Spotty lacing.

S: Big coffee upfront, followed by milk chocolate and hints of vanilla. No oak to speak of. Lacking depth, but still smells great.

T: Nowhere near as potent as the nose. Roasty coffee takes the lead, with a hint of bitter bakers chocolate. Tannic and bitter oak notes on the finish make this reminiscent of over extracted coffee. Not bad, but a bit dissapointing following the aroma.

M: Medium bodied, with a drying and lingering astringency I'm assuming is due in part to the oak.

O: Definitely prefer the original, but this wasn't bad. Glad to have tried it.
