Totally random grab recently. A bit surprised it's a Pils, I haven't had any of Mikkeller's more conservative offerings in a long time. Let's see how he can do Pils at Sly Fox.

A- Can poured out to a glass for the review with a mostly clear golden body. The head is white and makes it about a finger high with a foamy creamy texture. Fairly good retention and the wide ring drops thick sheets and webs of lace.

S- Instantly recognize American hops standing above the rest of the aromatics here with notes of mango, papaya, stone fruits and juicy fruits. This eventually leads to hints of pils grain, grass, cereal and spice.

T- Same sort of overall idea as the aroma with the American hops added to what seems like a traditional Pilsener base. I find a dichotomy struck here though and the German and American things clash a bit. Notes of mango, tropical fruits, passion fruit, melon and citrus seem to just flash away and totally switch to spicy, grassy, herbal and pale malty tones. Seems skunky/metallic/off at times when the flavors butt heads.

MF- Light bodied overall with a consistency that is both creamy and foamy but not approaching chewy. Carbonation level is moderately high and a herbal bitterness coats the taste buds at the exit.

The aroma had me going on the American-hopped Pilsener idea but I find on the palate things start to fight each other. The juicy, fruity hops are erased by traditional spicy tones and it just doesn't meld smoothly for me in the end.

12 oz. Can

Pours a pretty nice slightly hazy golden yellow color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy two-finger white head, which also leaves some pretty nice thick/creamy sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, kinda sweet, slight hop, slight citrus. The taste is malty, slightly hoppy, slightly citrus, nice little sweetness. Medium body, nice little bitter finish. Overall, a pretty tasty brew, a nice thirst quencher.

Pours a slightly hazy medium golden orange with a slight head.
Smell is a weird mix of fruit and citrus.
Taste is a complex blend of grapefruit, fruits, and a bit of pine.

This one pours a mostly clear orange, with a small head, and a good bit of lacing.

This smells pretty grainy, with pine and earthy hops. This smells quite hoppy for a pilsner. It smells sticky.

This smells like sticky resin, dank grassy hops, with orange peel and grapefruit rind. This feels like a very bitter IPL rather than an actual pilsner.

This is pretty light bodied, and it finishes fairly crisp and clean.

This feels pretty off-style, but it's still pretty tasty.

From a 12 oz can in a snifter. This sessionable little brew pours a
lightly hazy deep amber tinged golden with a beautiful head of
white foam that subsides to a thick ring, thin pool, and features
excellent soapy lacing. Nose of buttery honey and breaded malts
with pine and subtle citrus notes. Flavors follow the nose with
buttery bread malts and honey malts touched with pine tinged
hops and herbal hop notes with a touch of lemon zest. Nice mouth
feel---smooth, refreshing, medium light body, medium carbonation
to keep things lively, and a bitter piney hop finish.

Overall, a solid brew.

Cheers

Poured into tulip from can, nice 2 finger cream colored head that hangs around, nice lacing. Bright light golden in the glass, crystal clear. Smells of biscuit, light citrus. Taste mild bitterness on the front, leads into some sweet malt, citrus, tropical fruit and some mild pine. Finish is semi dry. Nice mouthfeel for 5%. Good drinking beer

L: Pale golden color, three finger white head, excellent lacing, loads of carbonation.

S: Hops, malts.

T: Malty, bready, hoppy. Superb!

F: Great mouthfeel due to good carbonation pushing flavors to palate.

O: The best lager I have ever tasted. Made me appreciate the style for the first time.
