i think this was one of the more basic beers i had out there, not to say it isnt an excellent pale ale, balanced and obviously well built, but it doesnt stand out to me like most of his other hoppy stuff, and really pales in comparison to the tenderloin ipa, which i had right after it. its best feature outside of its general evenness and drinkability is its yeast profile. i love how so many mikkeller beers either introduce to or intentionally do not remove yeast sediment and their corresponding flavors from beers that normally do not showcase much yeast. this has that slightly funky doughy european thing going on, and its a cool compliment to a decidedly american hop bill. i think its a little less flavorful on the hops than it should be, but i also think it was designed to be an affordable session option at the mikkeller bar, and i think it serves that purpose really well. it could also be seen as excellent in a food context there, where a lot of the menu items might overpower some of the more interesting or nuanced beers. like not love for me.

This beer pours a clear golden color with a great foam cap. It has a subtle aroma with some fruit-floral notes behind a clear grassy hop character. I get what I want from this, a touch of biscuit and some more of those green grassy hops on the palate. An unsung brew at the Mikkeller SF location, this hit the spot for something crisp, with a clear hop profile and a sessionable-ABV.

On tap at the 2014 Firestone Walker Invitational Beer Fest held at the Paso Robles Event Center in Paso Robles, CA.

Pours a clear orange with a foamy tan head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest and grapefruit juice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is tasty but simple.
