12. oz bottle poured into a snifter

A- black. motor oil. Really dark khaki head that laces nicely. Head does dissipate pretty quickly.

S- typical stout aroma, dark malt, cocoa, coffee, BUT, there's a very present smokiness.

T- Dark malt, some cocoa, some smoke, and a big old beat-you-over-the-head french roast coffee. Very coffee bitter. If you don't like coffee, stear clear.

M- thick, syrupy. Oats lend to the creamy, syrupy nature of the brew.

O- Not as sweet as most stouts, and certainly more coffee forward with taste and bitterness.

12oz bottle poured into an unlabeled snifter 8/20/2014.

A- Dark black body; beautiful pitch black darkness. Darkest mocha head I've seen on a beer in a long time that recedes very slowly, leaving rings and splotches of lacing all over the glass that sticks around as the beer slowly disappears. Phenomenal, dark and thick in appearance. [4.5]

S- Black coffee, roasted malt, bitter dark chocolate, hint of licorice, milk chocolate, a bit of lactose, hint of smoke. Smells like a breakfast stout, alright. [4]

F- Roast malt, milk chocolate, hint of lactose, a wee bit of campfire smoke, cocoa, bitter brewed black coffee on the finish. [4.25]

M- Medium bodied, creamy and silky smooth on the tongue. Just the right amount of carbonation. I am finding this 7.5% ABV beer to be very easy to drink. The finish gets a bit licorice heavy on the backend which isn't my thing, but could very well be yours. [4]

O- Easy to drink coffee stout with a good bit of complexity in comparison to a lot of coffee stouts made in the US. It's not as heavy on the coffee as other brews can be- which in my mind makes it a better balanced, better executed coffee stout where the coffee complements the base stout characteristics rather than simply overwhelming it altogether.
