330ml bottle poured into tulip 20/5/13

A murky brownish amber with lots of streams of bubbles feeding a two finger tan foam that's dense and retains very well leaving a few pencil thin rings followed by loads of random lace

S lots of caramel, a little orange peel with some herbal tea and bread, smells like an aged IPA even though this just landed, I suppose it could've taken a while to get here, I think I could pick De Proef yeast out of a line up at this point

T more of the same really, some pine and more rind but still loads of caramel and grains, almost as if the malt has more going on then the hops

M medium-full and creams up from the bubbles, a little left behind on the gums and rind lingers on the finish

O not my favorite from this series and from such a popular hop I was expecting more, the look was the highlight

I'm not sure I like the malt and yeast profile they use for all these single hops, I'm also uncertain of the age of this "new release" with the printing on the cap being smudged and it tasting a little old. Still decent but I've had far better from Mikkellers single hops lineup

maybe my favorite of the single hop series so far. this one has a strong woody taste to it, along with the bitter and just a tad of citrus. pours medium amber in color, maybe a little darker than a few of the others, with a frothy and thick lasting tan head. the nose is quite woody. not oak or pine, but something else, fresh and wet, with bold earthy hops and more yeast that americans are used to in their ipas. the taste reminds me a lot of founders centennial ipa really. its got that same robust pungent woody bitter hop complexion, which leads me to the conclusion that cascade and centennial hops are quite similar. someone correct me if im wrong here. finishes yeasty and bitter, like all good mikkeller beers in this style. feel is lush and full bodied, excellently carbonated, and a real joy to drink. i wish i has a 6pack of this, as its one id go back to again and again. woth the 6 or 7 bucks you pay for a single.

Pours amber with a large head.
Nose shows heavy grapefruit, citrus and resinous pine. Also a fair whack of caramel.
Aggressive flavours, with lots of grapefruit throughout. Some balancing clean malt. Pretty sharp, piny bitterness in the finish.
Could use a lighter body.

A: The beer is very hazy dark amber-orange in color. It poured with a two finger high beige head that has very good retention properties and consistently left a half finger high layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: There are aromas of tangerine hops in the nose along with some hints of caramel malts.
T: Like the smell, flavors of tangerine really stand out in the taste and linger through the finish. There is a light to moderate amount of bitterness. It is difficult to detect any flavors of caramel from the malts.
M: It feels medium-bodied and somewhat crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: Although this wasn’t quite as good as some of the other beers in the series, I enjoyed the aroma and taste of the Cascade hops because the tangerine really stands out from other types of citrus that are normally encountered such as grapefruit.

Pours a five finger white head that fades very slowly to a thin layer, leaving a good lace. Hazy amber color. Grapefruit hop nose. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Flavor follows the nose with grapefruit hops, any malts are way in the background, lingering bitter after taste. Good IPA, but not for me. $7.00 for a 330ml bottle from Tully’s Beer & Wine Wells, Me.

330ml bottle, 6.9% ABV.

This beer pours a murky, darkly burnished amber hue, with a teeming amount of dense, rocky, foamy head, which leaves a few layers of striated cloud lace around the glass as it slowly ebbs away.

It smells of bitter citrus rind - orange and tangerine - some sharp grapefruit pith, piny, floral hops, and a crisp, crackery graininess. The taste is sweet caramel and biscuit malt, tangy orange cream, a twinge of grapefruit oil, which gets immediately tramped on by some surging herbal pine hop notes, all underlain by a soft boozy warmth.

The carbonation is nice and lifting, quite structurally sound, the body a placating medium weight, and rather unencumbered in its smoothness. It finishes sweeter than I would have imagined, the caramel and biscuit malt duo hanging tough, though the Cascade hop's many irons aren't cold just yet.

A rather tasty incarnation of this ongoing (in terms of shipments to my hood, I suppose) single hop series, if I must say. Bitter fruit and malt, well in balance, as this particular hop is evidently capable of carrying the whole show.

11.2oz bottle from the Potsdam IGA for 6$

Appearance - Hazy copper colour with a huge size fizzy beige coloured head. There is a low amount of carbonation and there is some fair lacing. The head lasted for around 5 minutes and there appears to be some particles floating around.

Smell - Malts, caramel, hops, grapefruit

Taste & Mouth - There is a higher amount of carbonation and I can taste hops, malts, and caramel. There is also some raisin/apple like flavours and some buttery notes with a touch of grapefruit. It ends with a malty sweet aftertaste with a bit of a lingering hop bitterness.

Overall - There's some sort of code on the cap of the bottle, but it doesn't seem to translate into any sort of bottling date. The fact that there is stuff floating in this one leads me to believe it is past it's prime. It basically tasted just like the Amarillo but with a touch more bitterness. I don't think I'll buy any more mikkeller ipa's until I can figure out their dating system.
