Pours medium to dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma is caramel malt, candi sugar, alcohol and some dark fruit. Flavor is similar with a very sweet, dark fruit flavor. Alcohol is present. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Not one of the best quadrupels I have tasted, but a pretty good beer overall.

Reviewed from notes durning the dark time of no internet access (last month).
Poured from a corked and caged 750ml bottle into an oversized wine glass. Pours a dark burnt cloudy cider/icetea color. Firm pour provides for a one finger head with very nice lacing.
Nose-Sour apple, caramel, slightly vineous dark overripe fruit.
Taste-Lite coco, sweeter then expected . Viscous dark fruits. Caramel and toffee. Nice hop bitterness and alcohol in the finish. A little warming. Alcohol is present but complementry.
Mouthfeel-Smooth and creamy, imagine a quad stout. Lots of layers as it warms.
Drinkability-at 10% drinkability is limited but oh so pleasent

A well done interpretation of a quad. Seek out.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of Feb 2018. Picked up ages ago from Trembling Madness in York and stashed in my garage. This is Mikkeller's take on a Belgian quad.

Poured into a Duvel tulip. Bottle conditioned. A very dark brown that appears pitch black in the glass. Produces a large head of creamy beige foam with good retention; this slowly reduces to a thick surface layer. Some lacing. Aroma of fruity malt with hints of prunes, dried fruit, brown sugar, caramel, subtle yeast esters and earthiness. Sweet and malty, with a warming whiff of booze in the background.

Tastes of fruity malt with a yeasty finish. Notes of dried fruit, brown sugar, caramel, earthy yeast, faint esters and hints of stewed leaves. Quite sweet, with a touch of booze in the background. A lingering yeasty character upon swallowing; little bitterness to speak of. Mouthfeel is smooth and dry, with light carbonation and decent body for the style. Mildly astringent, followed by an aftertaste of sweet malt, vague fruitiness and earthy yeast.

Hmmmm - not terrible but certainly sub-par. It looks great, however the aroma and flavour have a lack of depth and development. The overall character is wishy-washy; sweet and fruity but not fully committed. Body is OK but not amazing. My impression is that it is under-attenuated, possibly due to not being fermented at a sufficiently high temperature. It falls short of the best that the style can offer. No need to hunt it down.

On-tap at Leon's Full Service in Atlanta.

Pours a hazy golden-brown color with a one-finger cream-colored head. The head recedes into a thin layer on top leaving thick lacing.

Smells of grainy caramel malts with solid amounts of raisins and brown sugar. As the beer warms the aroma sweetens up a bit and alcohol is noticeable.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Smooth caramel malt flavors up front are joined quickly by booze-soaked figs and raisins. Midway through the sip the fruit flavors fade a bit and brown sugar and heavier molasses flavors make an appearance. The molasses and caramel malt flavors carry through to a mildly bitter finish.

Mouthfeel is very good. It's got a nice thickness with grainy carbonation.

Drinkability is good. I finished my glass without a problem and could have another.

Overall I wasn't a huge fan of this beer as it seemed heavy on the malt side and the fruit flavors weren't as well integrated as the better beers of the style. Still, it's a solid beer and it's worth a shot to see for yourself.

Teku glass/trappis glass.
A: Very dark copper, medium, light tan colour head with good lacing.

S: Complex malty sweetness - caramel, toast. Moderate, perfumy alcohols aroma. Moderatly low dark fruits esters - plum, rasins, dried cherry. No recognizable hop aroma.

T: In taste very malty complex, bread/toast malts, moderatly sweet. Low bitterness. Finish is semi-sweet to sweet with characteristic dried fruit esters.

M: Medium to high carbonation. Medium to full body. Oily texture. Alcohol warmth is not as noticable, as its perfumy aroma, it’s rather smooth.

O: In overall complex malty beer, not the ideal because of too perfumy alcohol aroma, and too little dried fruits. Worth trying.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle (no date) into tulip

A- dark cola-colored hue with glimpses of amber in the light. Small 1-finger head with good retention and nice steady lacing. A really good-looking brew.

S- Belgian maltiness with breads, raisins, and booze.

T- the candied sweetness comes out first but quickly fades into plums, prunes, molasses. Also, a good roasted malt flavor with some woody smokiness but not much. A bit dry on the back end.

M- light to medium carbonation and a medium-sized mouthfeel. A little boozy but not as heavy as you would think for a 10% abv brew.

O- pretty good quad. A little heavier and darker than some of my normal faves. Seems a bit more like a BSDA. It was one I wanted to try but would be 10deep on my list of quads that I would seek out at the store.

750ml (for a Quad, really?) foil and champagne cork-enclosed bottle - yet another pain-in-the-ass synthetic cork to remove, sans any grace whatsoever. Gah.

This beer pours a hazy, rather dark and muddled cola brown colour, with a teeming tower of effervescent, puffy, and foamy beige head, which leaves some thinly sudsy webbed lace around the glass as it slowly recedes.

It smells of lightly roasted caramel malt, black fruit - figs and dates, mostly - candied holiday bread, brown sugar, treacle, and a rum and fortified wine like booziness. The taste is strong caramel and toffee malt, besotted raisins, bittersweet chocolate, demarara sugar, the sweet and acidic nature of barely ripened plums, and a very mild vinous alcohol warming.

The carbonation is fairly low, just going about its quotidian duties, the body a decent medium weight, smooth, and somewhat silky. It finishes well off-dry - quite sugary and fruity, with the earthy, leafy hops coming round to blend into the still coy booze warming.

One easy-drinking Quad, if a bit simplistic, if there ever was such a thing. Despite my description, this is perhaps a bit more complex than that, but the focus really seems to be more on the clean, smooth, tasty, and imperceptible strength of this offering. Good stuff, even for the price, which for the vessel in question, is indeed a veritable bargain.

Jason's bottle from Julio's. Hit the bullseye on the style. Black, lots of lace. A mouthfeel of yeast, a meal of it. A good amount of sourish brown flavour here. Sugar, toffee. Noting a feast of yeast aroma, the drinkability is very good for my favourite style.

I'm a little conflicted over this beer. Certainly one of my favorite styles and this beer pours and smells very much according to the style. Dark, chocolaty, translucent brown. Poured from a pint bottle into a tulip glass. Not much head or retention.

Nose of dried fruits, sweet bread and chocolate.

A little surprised with the taste. Expected more sweetness. Lots of coffee, some dried fruit, but not the depth I was hoping for. Also exhibited a not entirely pleasant bitter nuance at the back palate. Decent mouthfeel.

Tiny offwhite head, deep brown body.

Nose contains dates, some plum and dark fruit.

The dates and dark fruit are present in the taste as well, along with a hint of orange on the aftertaste with a trace of booziness. Quite sweet and malty, similar to Gouden Carolus Classic. Very much a Belgian strong dark ale at heart, and i feel like it reminds me of something else, but I can't put my finger on what.

Feel is pretty nice and smooth.

Great quad, dark and full of bold dark fruit. I'd give it 6 months to tame the booziness though.
