Picked this up at a wine store in northeastern Louisiana. I just checked the BA score and grabbed it without looking at what it actually was. It was more expensive than I expected, so I looked at why and saw it was from the civet coffee.
Even for imperial stouts, this is a dark beer. Black as night. Not much in the smell. The taste is amazing. Well-balanced with not an excessive amount of coffee, but what you can taste is very complex with a lot of sweetness and bitterness coming from the coffee. I get a little hint of alcohol, especially as the beer warms. Very rich flavor with a lot going on. Definitely one of the biggest beers I have tried.
Where I was it was $15 for 500mL, but it is a very memorable beer for the taste of the beer itself and the fact of what it is made from. Definitely worth trying at least once and maybe on a few other special occasions if you can get your hands on it, but not something I am willing to regularly shell out this much money for plus I can get a stout that is almost good for much less.
