No clue how old this is, but it was a bit dusty. 500 ml bottle into an over sized wine glass.

A - Pitch black body lets zero light through. 2 finger high mocha head forms and settles to a nice bubbly cap. Great lacing and retention and some alcohol legs produced after swirling.

S - I've never had civet coffee before so I'm a bit inexperienced in its nuances, but the coffee aroma here is roasty but not bitter. It's hard to explain. Very sweet yet roasty coffee and malts which works great against the deep vanilla and dark chocolate notes. Really unique and fantastic.

T - Just as extraordinary as the nose. Sweet vanilla and dark chocolate followed by lightly roasty yet sweetened coffee notes. There is some slightly vinous and fruity red wine notes towards the finish as well. Syrupy and coating, with low carbonation.

O - I'm not a Mikkeller fan at all. After trying three of the B/A black hole beers I gave up on buying there stuff. This bottle was given to me so I went into it rather unbiased of its price tag. But holy crap has my image of them changed. This is a phenomenal stout. I think I prefer BCBCS a bit more in terms of coffee stouts, but this is a huge achievement, I though it was going to beer an average gimmicky beer using one of the most expensive coffee beans, buts its just so damn delicious. Kudos Mikkeller!

My first beer drank using the weasel shit coffee. I'm not completely down with the idea of it, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway, thanks to the Old Toad crew at the Ithaca Luminous release.

Pours a dark black, not much foam or head, and a little bit of lacing.

Smells include coffee, chocolate, and vanilla.

The taste is pretty similar. There are some dark fruit flavors that are nice, and not present in the Beer Geek Breakfast. The coffee flavor is nice, but I don't know how much the "specialty coffee" adds to it any more than regular coffee.

Medium bodied, could be thicker for an imperial. Creamy mouthfeel, low carbonation.

A decent imperial coffee stout, though I have had better.

A-Black body. Half finger of brown head. Dots of spotty lace spill down side of glass fast. Retains a great thin top layer of head until the last sip. Glass will be left with sticky lace. Love how the head swirled with the body on top to give decorative espresso-art like designs.

S-Roasted malt and chocolate. Strong coffee. Warm rum notes when inhaled deeply. Raisins. Oats. Graham. Molasses. Wet brown paper-bag. The brew smells cold and dank. Then gets sour, sweet and sticky. Terrific transformation. Meets all the set standards of a double stout and even strengthens and improves on said standard. "Super Stout" smells.

T-Caramel and chocolate malts abound. Quality coffee washes over. Hops are resinous and green. Leafy even. Citrus interestingly comes to play with orange & grapefruit upfront. Mellow citrus mind you, and dipped in chocolate in taste. Dark sour fruits as well are detected. Not too oat driven in flavor where you think "Oatmeal Stout!", but the oats are there. An array of flavors that are genuine and most importantly strong & everlasting.

M-Medium-high body. Heavy and full with enough creamy touch swirled in. Medium carbonation that sizzles. Tongue is coated and oily. Going down the neck the body is thick and gelatinous. This heaviness is softened to a creamier self with time. The sip starts sweet, roasted and bitter like hops/black coffee. The middle is the aforementioned which is interesting. The end is dark sour fruit with a stronger bitter finish of resinous pine & weed. Very sticky, lips will stick to glass.

O-When one category can't be pin-pointed as your favorite, you are dealing with a monster brew. Everything is in tune, cranked UP even, to a higher state of bliss. Something I noted was that on warming, the beer didn't spoil into a sour-prune state like most stouts do. It retained the smoky-resinous-chocolate-coffee flavor until the last drop. With drops of citrusy hop sneaking in, what else could you want in flavor? Top shelf stout. An 11.2 oz. bottle does the job.
This beer is the civet-shit!

No bottle date, poured into a teku

A- Pours pitch black with a dark tan creamy and silky head that retains long after the pour, leaving some nice lace behind

S- big fresh coffee notes with bitter-sweet dark chocolate, roasty & slightly smoky malt, also picking up a fruity berry-like aroma

T- dark and bitter chocolate up front tastes like a artisan dark chocolate bar, fresh espresso coffee kicks in mid-palate and meshes perfectly with the dark chocolate. Fresh cream flavor with a hint of oat adds an incredible smoothness, fruity berries add a light sweetness. The finish gives more dark chocolate with a slightly bitter finish

M- medium body and low carbonation lead to an incredibly smooth mouthfeel and a silky and velvety finish. Just a hint of alcohol at the end, incredibly smooth and drinkable

O- I had the calvados version and loved it, so I was looking forward to trying the base beer, this didn't disappoint. The coffee flavor is world class and mixes brilliantly with dark chocolate malt flavors with a perfect mouthfeel. World class
