Damn...What can I say about spending $15 on used monkey shit and burned grain?
Answer: "HELL YES".
This is an awesome brew that I might just spend another $15 on. Can't see much happening if cellared but fresh like this is outstanding.
A-Kind of looks like Guinness, even with the way the bubbles cascade down the outside of the glass. Opaque, impenetrable blackness with a dirty tan head. Nice, but just a 4.
S-One of the most complex noses I've ever had....earthy like a dank ass Bordeaux, sweet and ample like a milk stout, roasty like an unforgiving barleywine and not a HINT of the 10.9% that lays beneath, give or take some vanilla and spice.
T-Creamy, roasty, coffee-like (Well, I'd hope....excrement and stout are the two selling points...), vanilla, nice little bitter pinch in the finish with some creamy notes sticking their faces in the door every now and then. Pretty damn amazing, actually. There are very few beers from Mikkeller that I am JAZZED about, but this is definitely a beer that will make me reevaluate trying some of the stuff from them that I havn't tried yet.
M- Thick, full, lasting and CLEAN. Not getting any soy-sauce, or tar in this beer, whatsoever.
D-Very drinkable for its content. Very drinkable for the idea. So drinkable, in fact, that the Alaskan Barley Wine I just popped will have to wait until this puppy is drained.
THANK YOU, Mikkeller, and thanks for opening my eyes on this.
