Props out to Lazzman for pointing this craft out to me as I may have passed on this Weasel stout. Mikkeller will be my 100th brewer review in about one year of being on BA.
On tap at the BBistro on Madison St, Chicago. Brought to my table in a beautifully Christmas lit local tavern. Pour was pitch black and a whipped cream half-inch mocha head that would give you a milk-satche upon your first sip.
Aroma is fantastic. Rich fudge in chocolate torte fashion. Fresh espresso bean, dried dark pitted fruit and vanilla.
Taste follows the nose. I do not believe an oatmeal stout will get any better. Like having smooth creamy oatmeal with brown sugar, butter, pinch salt and cream laden....and with a cup of coffee-one sugar please and light on the cream on a cold winter Saturday morning and snowing. Freakin splendid indeed makes me all warm inside. Really no alcohol. Seductive and dangerously drinkable.
Velvety, creamy, rich, viscous, full bodied-really one on the smoothest crafts I've had.
Mere wording does this no justice but writing these words helps me enjoy what I love doing. This needs to be experienced. This isn't even BA and Goose Island Baudonia was the first thing to come to mind-nice company to have. IMO this drinks now to two years due to the fact that the coffee aspect is what drives this craft and could be lost with aging-jus saying. Was reading a review from a 2008 that appears to have maintained itself, only solidifies my 5's for this. Tough watching my last sip go down. Tremendously Tremendous!!!
