A: Black with a brown and thin but steady head

S: Rich roasted malts; coffee beans, raisins, and a pleasant but persistent alcohol burn

T: Bitter roasted coffee; earthy and woody with subtle semi-sweet chocolate flavors; subtle alcohol burn

F: Good even mouth coating; fairly creamy

D: Bitter with loads of coffee and the alcohol is present but it's still a damn good beer

.5L, batch 470, brewed December 1, 2009.

Syrupy black pour with a modest dark beige head. Laces in spots and sheets all over the glass.

The nose is packed with chocolate fudge, licorice, coffee, plus some subtle alcohol.

This is a huge stout. At first it seems quite sweet and rich, with lots of semi-sweet chocolate and molasses. Then the hefty roasted notes kick in, leaving behind a bitter, dry aftertaste. Definitely for coffee lovers, as this stuff has a lot of earthy, dark roast character. No signs of Weasel feces, thankfully. As it warms there is some nice fruitiness, with an almost blueberry character. Despite the bitter, roasty finish, this stout is well-balanced and insanely smooth. The mouthfeel is ridiculously thick and chewy, with fine, mellow carbonation.

Very glad to have come across a bottle of this, as it's one of the best stouts I've ever had. Here's to my 500th review!

Brewed with coffee from a weasel monkey's digestive system. Yum! I am a huge fan of the beer geek breakfast so lets see how this one fares. Pours absolutely gorgeous pure deep blackness of a body hosts a three finger peppery carmel colored head that fades to a skim in about four minutes leaving lots of dots of lace. Nose is mouth watering with smooth roasted coffee tones, sweet full chocolate, and a consistent full nuttiness that is very warm and attractive, silky, chocolaty rich and truely mouth coating with just the first sip. Overall the taste is much like drinking very good dark roasted coffee. Big high cacao percentage dark chocolate is very evident on the palate. Maybe some anise towards the finish also. A really well done Imperial. Reminds me of Stone IRS with more dark chocolate and coffee. Mouthfeel is huge, deep, thick and really appealing. Wonderfully drinkable late night sipper.

2009 bottle tasted in summer 2009.

Pours jet black and side by side with Beer Geek Breakfast. What a different beer!

Aroma was thick dark roasted espresso with some vanilla and chocolate.

Flavor was beautiful bitter smooth coffee.

Mouthfeel is where the biggest difference in the beers comes. The weasel is medium bodied with decent carb, but feels so slick on the tongue and goes down so easily.

Overall, this is one of the best coffee beers in the world and, when compared to beer geek breakfast, demonstrates the difference of using quality coffee in brewing.

Jet black. Completely opaque. Weak head. Some lacing.

Highly roasted burnt charcoal and tobacco aroma. Lots of coffee. Smooth oats. Rich dark fruit.

Roasted malt dominates, charcoal, baking chocolate, tobacco, burnt toast. Smooth oats and sweet maple syrup and molasses balance the bitterness. Assertive earthy hop. Extremely well balanced.

Full bodied yet not syrupy. Super dry finish. Very well carbonated.

Truly exceptional. Super intense and complex yet perfectly balanced.

So I have to be honest. I think that it's kind of cool that something I've drank came out of a weasel-cat butthole. Ewww, but f-ing awesome.

Poured into a snifter from a bottle. Dark brown/black with a very thick, tan head. No lace.

The smell is pretty goddang wonderful. Very oat and coffee
, with some chocolate and booze. Vanilla in the finish. Very rich smell.

Being that I love coffee stouts, mmm. G
The coffee flavor is Turkish coffee rich, super smooth oatmeal, slight chocolate, earthy hops, slight touch of pine, alcohol spice (also slight), with a cocoa finish. Velvet in the throat.

Damn good. More please.

500 ml bottle. No bottling dates.

Pours out a pitch black body. Not much of a head, which is surprising considering the style and the fact that I poured it quite vigorously. What is there is mocha in color and leaves some lacing on the glass.

Quite a sweet profile on the nose, with chocolate milk aromas dominating. The coffee is definitely there, although I would have liked it to be a little more present. Fullness from the oatmeal, and a slight alcohol profile pokes through.

Very dry flavor profile at first, with a nice coffee bitterness, that rides atop a slightly nutty backbone. Leads into a more full body, with loads of milk chocolate sweetness. Some fig is also evident. Finish is dry again, with just a hint of leafy hops, and a warming alcohol presence, especially as the beer warms up a bit.

A really nice beer, with all the components working so well together. Bring me more weasel poop beer!
