Tap at Yellow Ape, Osaka.
L: a simply gorgeous looking beer. Jet black, and a cracking small dark tan bubbly head which eventually goes with a tonne of lacing.
S: nothing surprising or unusual for an imperial stout, just solid rich dark roasted malt, chocolate, well-balanced notes.
T: so big in flavour, strong malt, choc fudge. It stays the same all the way down, zero palate fatigue, full-flavoured till the end.
F: really smooth, you can't taste the alcohol, but the feel is so full and rich you know it's there.
O: wonderful. Really easy to sip for an hour because of the rich flavours.

Pours a deep dark chocolate, has aroma of coffee, chocolate, & a strong boozy note. Flavor follows aroma and seems a bit unbalanced between the flavors. A little bit of a warm mouthfeel from the alcohol. Solid beer overall but needs some work

12 oz bottle. Pours almost jet black with two finger khaki head, fades slowly to a thin full layer, lots of lace. Aroma is ridiculous coffee and sweet slightly burnt sugar. Taste starts off with a little sweet chocolate which is immediately met by deep rich espresso, it's like chewing on a coffee bean. The flavor finishes semi dry with a nice bitterness, seems like this is a combination of coffee bitterness and some hops, with a tinge of burnt notes. The mouthfeel is super soft and thick. Overall excellent coffee stout, one of the best I've had so far.

11.5 oz bottle poured into my Solemn Oath snifter.

Look -- Asphalt black/ brown. Rich brown head that starts out about the width of your finger. Settles into nice lacing on top. Not much left on the sides of my glass.
Smell - Coffee. Coffee. Coffee.
Taste - Oatmeal, rich roasted coffee. Slight on the booze/
Feel - Oh, so creamy. Smooth creaminess coats the tongue .
Overall - I loved this. The price point will make this more of a treat when I see it, as opposed to a must buy everytime. It will be so worth it when I do.

Poured pitch black, one finger of light brown head that turned in to an oily coating. Smell is straightforward coffee. Taste is coffee and roast, a hint of vanilla. Feel is decently thick and a lot of viscosity going down.

I had this after the Beer Geek Breakfast -- to me this is literally an imperial version of that beer.

Poured from a bottle (11.2 oz) into a goblet.

Thick black pour. One finger of cafe au lait colored foam. Nose is coffee, coffee, coffee.

The first thing that impresses you on the first sip is the mouthfeel. Rich, thick, and viscous. Slightly oily. The coffee flavor is so rich and vibrant, I want to gargle with it.

Flavor is dried stone fruits, heavy cocoa, and roasted coffee beans on the finish. Perfect bitterness. There is definitely hints of booze at 10.9% ABV, but it's welcome considering the richness, and hey we're drinking beer, right? It's drinkable and I want more.

I've been working my way through the "Beer Geek" series and this might be staking it's claim at #1.

Pours a solid black with a medium coffee and roast nose. Smooth coffee body with light roastiness and it hides the ABV really well compared to Vanilla Shake.

This imperial stout is a really good choice if you enjoy coffee flavored beers. It is not overpowering like mocha Wednesday by the Bruery but rather subtle coffee taste.

Must start off by saying the whole weasel poop coffee thing weirds me out, but if you can get past that then this is a great beer. It pours a very very dark brown, actually looks black if you dont hold it right up to the light. It has a massive brown head and leaves excellent lacing. Smell is mostly coffee with toasted malts and a hint of bitter chocolate. Taste is much the same, quite delicious. Feel is medium and very slick. Overall a great beer, definitely prefer it to the vanilla shake version.

Poured from 11.2 oz bottle into Pipeworks NvU snifter. Dark dark brown, pervasive head. Strong coffee nose, something else underneath that I can't quite identify. Strong coffee and boozy flavor, not quite as strong as a barrel aged. Mouth filling, taste lingers on the tongue. Not as complex and full bodied as CCB Marshall Zhukov, but a stronger and tastier beer than Old Rasputin. Very nice.

12oz bottle cellar temp
Big mocha head thin and bubbly dissipates right away
Smells wonderful
Tastes of rich roasted malt, gourmet coffee, and some bitter hops on the finish
The alcohol is upfront and burns, unpleasantly.
Overall, a delicious beer, but could be much better with less alcohol

Bottle from Ebenezer's
Thick black liquid with a rich creamy mocha head that lasts forever. Huge chocolate and coffee aroma with plenty of brown sugary sweetness to pull this desert beer together. Very rich, nice brew!

Purchased 4/3/2015 enjoyed 8/3/2015 in a Mad Elf tulip/snifter.

Look - Dark black body with only the outer edges letting light through. A little less than a finger tan head that developed slowly after pour and dissipated quickly. Little to no lacing. Very fine bubbles.

Smell - Chocolate. Alcohol. Coffee. Char. Vanilla. Soy.

Taste - Dark and milk chocolates. Alcohol is there and not "light" but a different flavor. Oats. Coffee. I am just assuming the different flavor is a type of coffee I have not tasted. Sweet before the finish, almost citrusy.

Feel - Creamy. Little tongue tingle with hops and alcohol. Not overly carbonated.

Overall - I found myself taking many small sips of this to find out what is going on. I don't think it is overly complex, just flavors I have not tasted.

Nice thick chocolaty stout. Great chocolate and toffee notes and even though its pretty complex its very easy drinking for a higher ABV stout. Even better on tap

11.2 oz bottle, 10.9% ABV, no date (but probably from late 2014 or early 2015). Pours black with reddish hues. Pretty cascading khaki head. Smells of dark cocoa, heavy roasted malts, and some subtle earthy hops. The taste is packed full of flavor; malts, cocoa, char, hops, oats, and some nuttiness. Not much coffee coming out. Slight alcohol warming, but it helps to cut through the heavy body. Very full mouthfeel. The carbonation is low-medium. Overall, really enjoyed the flavor complexity and thick mouthfeel.

L: Pitch black, with a little head that dissolves quickly
S: Smells medicinal, no coffee, no chocolate, no alcohol
T: Disappointing, the most prominent flavor is medicine...very strange. Not sure how this passed quality control. It's unbelievable that this currently has a 4.32 rating.
F: It's thick and smooth. Great feel.
O: Not good, and pricey. Worst of both worlds.

A: The body is opaque black with a thin caramel/coffee head. It has no retention but some lacing.
S: The smell is too unnoticeable. Only if you concentrate, you can barely feel some coffee and beneath it some alcohol. It's actually quite interesting to barely find alcohol in its aroma even if it has an astounding 10.9% ABV.
T: This is great. You have the sweetness of the malt in the tip of the tongue and the bitterness of hops in the back of your mouth, all of this intertwined with both sweetness and bitterness of coffe. It's like a missing piece that connects both tastes greatly. I've never experienced nothing like this. It's really well made. Coffee has a really big role in the making this beer awesome.
M: Please stop this. The texture resembles a dense coffee, being close to perfection. In the end of the sip, you first get the kick of alcohol and then you get your mouth sweet as hell, with a bitter touch to it. This is something I've never before.
O: Being a beer geek who loves coffe, this beer comes to me as the best of two worlds. Thank you gods of beer and coffee. I'll be preaching for Mikkeller's Beerk Geek Brunch Weasel until I die.

Saw this on the menu at Brasserie V and had to get one. Slightly expensive at $13 a glass, but civet coffee is expensive. Black body. Huge chocolate coffee aroma. Big roasted coffee taste. Lots of chocolate flavor. The coffee taste is really good but different. It’s a very earthy coffee.

Near black with a pencil's width of mocha-colored head. Cream and chocolate on the nose, with just a hint of coffee in the background. Insanely thick and creamy mouthfeel, again with cream and chocolate upfront and bitter coffee in the backend. Delightful.

An attractive thick black stout with a small, creamy tan head. Light lacking showing quaility brewing and ingredients. The aroma is a light coffe smell, with roasted malts and light dark chocolate. I was surprised that the aroma was not more pronounced. Taste is creamy, smooth, thick and coffee flavored. I also taste chocolate and an unidentifiable spice. This beer is dry at the finish with a roasty bitterness. Overall all a quality beer. It is brewed at a higher quality than other coffee oatmeal stouts but pricier. Terrapin is a better buy if you like the coffee flavor and taste. For mouthfeel -Beer Geek Brunch Weasel.

Reminiscent of biting into high percentage dark chocolate cocoa, 90% or higher with premium coffee notes! It's dry and smooth yet not silky or bitter. This beer becomes more enjoyable with every sip. It is a great morning/after dinner/evening/desert beer! Enjoy!

Dark reddish brown color, minimal brown head. Aroma is sweet roasted coffee beans dusted with milk chocolate cocoa powder. Subtle purple fruits, vanilla, and butterscotch. Taste is a little more assertive at the front with roasted coffee bean sharpness, bittersweet chocolate, and the presence of alcohol. Sweet and dry cocoa as well. Mouthfeel is super smooth, caramel sauce but not so thick.
