A: Pours a viscous black color with a pretty thick chestnut colored head. Leaves some nice spotty laced down the glass.

S: Incredible rich espresso and dark roasted coffee notes upfront. Dark chocolate, fudge and some leafy hops in the background. Smells incredible.

T: A rich and creamy espresso hit right away. It's dense and full of dark chocolate, blackberry and some char. Some burnt coffee grounds and earthy hops on a dry finish. Really incredible stuff. I love this beer.

Served in a snifter glass.

Appearance: Opaque dark and thick pour looking like used motor oil. Head is thick in the beginning but settles quick with an initial rise of 2/3".

Smell: What an aroma, you feel the coffee hit you and you just want to inhale the beast.

Taste: Rich espresso, not too bitter...has a lot of molasses and brown sugar notes but not too sweet. The taste comes off just right.

Mouth: Very sticky, and smooth...carbonation is medium at best coming off light as it sits in the glass which pisses me off a bit but still good.

Overall: Easily one of the best imperial stouts I've had probably top ten. It's definitely the smoother of its kind making it very easy for the novice beer drinkers and true connoisseurs to love. Take your time and enjoy...Salud!

Opaque black in color with a dark tan head that stayed for about a minute and had a tan collar until I finished the beer. Aroma is heavily roasted, nice sweet coffee and a touch of vanilla. I ended up leaving this beer in the snifter for about 20 minutes before I started drinking it, and I'm very glad I did. Taste was considerably better once it approached proper temperature. Sweetness of the coffee shines in this brew. Also leathery, deep roasted malt, and an earthiness that I associate with some kind of wood (maybe Pine?). Oats really make the mouthfeel nice and silky.

Beer is black with a large dark tan head. Fair retention, decent lace.

Nose is good. Coffee is strong, along with roasted malt and chocolate. Oatmeal.

Like the nose, the flavour is coffee-heavy. Quite a rich coffee flavour. Along with the coffee, there is roasted malt and chocolate. Some anise. Fair bit of alcohol heat. Big and rich, very strong flavour. Fairly bitter, from the coffee I think. Quite good. I am not a coffee drinker, but this is still good. If I was a coffee drinker, I expect I would be a big fan.

Full bodied, moderate carbonation. Full and a bit astringent.

Overall, very nicely crafted. I much prefer this to the Beer Geek Breakfast, and I doubt it is due to the different coffee.
