A - Pours with one finger of light tan foam on top of an opaque, back body. As the head recedes it leaves light lace on the glass.

S - An aroma of chocolate, coffee, smoke, and, oddly, gunpowder (think of the smell after fireworks are set off).

T - Smoky, dark coffee flavors with a touch of caramel and burnt toffee. Some spicy notes of clove and cinnamon in the middle and more burnt, smoky character. Finishes with dark sugar, burnt malt and gunpowder like coffee flavor.

M - Medium-thick coffee, moderately low carbonation, and a fairly dry finish.

D - Smoky and complex with an oddly spicy smoke character that I keep describing as gunpowder. Really complex and smoky. Very interesting, though I don't know if it is worth the effort of seeking out such a rare brew.

A: thin dark tan head that dissipates rapidly on a jet black body with no light passing through.

S: rich, dark roast coffee, dark chocolate. The coffee has a very nice tangy character to it. aroma is nicely strong.

T: the coffee flavors are unlike others I have had. These are dry and espresso like but with a smokey, tangy and sweet note as well. Very unique.

M: medium body and moderate carbonation, smooth with a semi dry finish and coffee lingering deep into the aftertaste.

Overall: This is a very unique beer. For coffee lovers this is a must try beer. Very memorable

Bottle around 2 years old.

A: Pitch black with a medium-sized and densely packed medium brown head. Leaves a nice solid wall of foam as it slowly fades away.

S: Rich roasted coffee with a bunch of bitter chocolate. Lots of oatmeal too.

T: Loads of coffee mixed with some char, semi-sweet and smooth with the oatmeal. Turns bitter as the oatmeal fades. Briefest touch of dark fruit in the middle. Some bitter chocolate and ash in the finish. More lingering roasty bitterness between sips.

M: Heavy, slick and oily. A bit drying from the lingering bitterness.

O: Not as overpowering in the coffee as with Beer Geek Breakfast. Still quite strong but not ridiculously so. Better balanced but not great. Quite bitter overall for such a big stout. Probably great for a coffee lover, however.

Beer Geek Brunch Weasel
1 pt., .9oz bottle, 2011
Hunahpu's snifter

A: Pours completely pitch black in color.  Initially a half finger of dark tan head that ends up dissipating fairly quickly into a ring around the edges of the glass. I definitely get some alcohol feet when I swirl it around.  Some darker lacing bits.

S: Deep dark chocolate.  Espresso like coffee notes.  Rich dark fruit hints.  Dark cherry.  Deep roasted grains.

T: On the tip of the tongue, I get dark roast coffee.  Delicious dark roast coffee bitterness.  That bitterness leads to an amazing dark rich cocoa flavor.  Lavish bitter chocolate.  Cake like flavor.  Decadent for certain.  Richness comes from the outside of the mouth to the inside.  It really grows.  Prickly carbonation that flows over the tongue.

M: Full bodied.  But it's very much pleasing, not cloying.  Carbonation really helps with this.  Coats the mouth with flavor.

O: A+.  Just an amazing beer.  I was actually thinking that it would suck or not live up to the hype.

as a dark chocolate nose with hints of anise and surprisingly less coffee than I expected. There are definitely notes of fresh coffee beans though. The taste is another story all together. It screams coffee. Strong, dark roasted, black coffee. There are some slight notes of chocolate and maybe some raisins with just the tiniest touch of anise. Although the coffee is extremely dominant and strong, it is good coffee and it tastes fantastic. The mouthfeel is thick and chewy and it is just like breakfast in a bottle.

No clue how old this is, but it was a bit dusty. 500 ml bottle into an over sized wine glass.

A - Pitch black body lets zero light through. 2 finger high mocha head forms and settles to a nice bubbly cap. Great lacing and retention and some alcohol legs produced after swirling.

S - I've never had civet coffee before so I'm a bit inexperienced in its nuances, but the coffee aroma here is roasty but not bitter. It's hard to explain. Very sweet yet roasty coffee and malts which works great against the deep vanilla and dark chocolate notes. Really unique and fantastic.

T - Just as extraordinary as the nose. Sweet vanilla and dark chocolate followed by lightly roasty yet sweetened coffee notes. There is some slightly vinous and fruity red wine notes towards the finish as well. Syrupy and coating, with low carbonation.

O - I'm not a Mikkeller fan at all. After trying three of the B/A black hole beers I gave up on buying there stuff. This bottle was given to me so I went into it rather unbiased of its price tag. But holy crap has my image of them changed. This is a phenomenal stout. I think I prefer BCBCS a bit more in terms of coffee stouts, but this is a huge achievement, I though it was going to beer an average gimmicky beer using one of the most expensive coffee beans, buts its just so damn delicious. Kudos Mikkeller!
