No freshness dating

A= Pours a lucious black color with a nice super thick and sexy dark tan head on it that holds great retention and lacing. I thought I saw a few chunks fall out that made me think of poop... Other than that it looks great.

S= The smell is really clean coffee aroma with a bit of a soy sauce smell but it's not the bad soy sauce you get with Triple Bock it's more of a deep sweetness if that makes sense. I dunno why but soy sauce comes to mind first.

T= The taste on this one is heavenly. People say it's the best coffee in the world and I must say it is the smoothest cleanest coffee flavor I've ever had. The soy sauce in the smell isn't coming through in the taste at all and it's becoming just a pure sweet stout with a nice coffee taste. The finish is a bit boozy but nothing an imperial stout drinker can't handle.

M= A nice heavy mouth with a sweet finish before some of the coffee dries it out.

O= Not a bad beer at all. I would drink this again and again but it isn't what I was hoping. I've got locally avalible stouts readily avalible to me that are just as good. Worth trying for the novelty though.

Trace of brown head, very fine. Dark opaque brown.

A trace of hops, but also malt and shoe leather.

A sort of mellowed (yet still very intense) imperial stout. Significant residual hop character, but buckets and buckets of semi-dry malt. Bourbon character is nearly absent. Not a lot of coffee either. Kind of a Mikkeller imperial stout.

Mouthfeel is delightfully smooth.

So... a weasel pooped this. Interesting. It's pretty good, but neither full of bourbon nor coffee.

From 500mL bottle to Bruges hybrid glass on 3/26/12
*From notes

A: Exceedingly dark. I really think this may be one of the blackest beers I've encountered. A good pour yields a rich two finger moccha head that lingers for a long damn time.

S: Some decent coffee and cocoa with a touch of green. It's not as prevalent or loud as I would like.

T: When you use the world's best coffee beans in your beer, you're gonna have to work pretty hard to mess it up. Seeing as Mikkeller knows a good bit about brewing a beer like this, it's exactly how you'd expect: rich, smoldering coffee and a large quantity of what comes across like baker's chocolate. A bit of a milky (not lacto) bite lingers in the mouth. Excellently executed.

M: It's like drinking a chocolate & coffee milkshake. So thick that it's hard to get back more then a little as a time, as it expands in my mouth like a sponge.

O: I'm extremely impressed with Mikkeller's Beer Geek Brunch Weasel - what's easily his best beer. Other then a lackluster bouquet, this beer is close to top shelf in every facet. Wonderfully done, and highly recommended.

16.9 oz bottle poured leisurely into my Central Waters snifter.

Pours a rich, oiled legged black that wears a small mocha colored collar.

Big and rich coffee right off the bat. Blackberry? Currant? A really nice berry quality that melds along with the aromatics of the coffee. Some fudgey dark chocolate notes as well. This shines brightly for beer I believe is years old.

Lots of chocolate cake, berries, and coffee in the taste as well. Oily mouthfeel with a lingering bitterness in the finish. This the oats? Alcohol bite is pronounced but not overbearing. A little less heat would be nice, but for nearly 11% it's well constructed.

Mikkeller's price tags tend to bother me and more often than not I am left disappointed. This is an exception. While I won't run out and throw money at this, I'd be cool with drinking it again.

Pours considerably dark. A tad thin in regards to head. Lacing is decent.

The aroma is coffee and roastiness. A little bit of the oatmeal sweetness comes across in the aroma.

The taste is like the aroma. Coffee and roasted malt. It comes across as quite bitter, although you can tell there's a fair amount of sweetness to it. The coffee richness is quite nice and definitely justifies the lengths they went to to get it. There's a mocha aspect to it and some caramel as it warms up. It's actually somewhat like coffee in the function of it as it seems to be better warm for sure. The oats in this have a bit more of a natural taste than in many stouts as well. After a while the coffee flavor begins to thoroughly sink in and that's when this drink really shines. There's a hop foundation that you could easily miss since it's concealed by the coffee's bitterness.

The body is of medium/full thickness and a heavy weight. The finish is fairly dry and slightly sticky.

Overall, this was a great beer. I can't say that it justifies the price tag, but I think it was trying at least once for sure. I enjoyed the beer geek breakfast, but I found the richness in this was far more memorable. Drinkability is also tremendous, and it's a bit of a negative that it's so easy to drink this so quick.

I had to give this beer a 5 for taste after it warmed up. I highly recommend anybody letting this warm up.

Bottle split with my brother, poured into a pint glass.

A: Opaque & viscous black, brown head has good retention, body is oily.

S: Spicy earthy coffee, lighter roasted component, a bit astringent. Coffee really dominates.

T: Spicy coffee, medium roast blend, mild chocolate, lots of spicy notes and prominent espresso notes.

MF: Spicy & viscous, a bit oily medium-to-full mouthfeel.

O: A good coffee beer, but not my favorite, I think the coffee could have been more pleasant and less astringent.

Pours a thick black with a small tan head. Almost no head, I assume, from the coffee.

Smells like toasted bread, oatmeal, some notes of coffee, slight sweetness, and some honey. Really great aroma.

Taste is roasted chocolate malt up front that goes into a coffee, astringent (but not too much) note, and ends on a slightly bitter, yet smooth finish where a big hit of toasted oat character and coffee comes in, blending in with some chocolate and sweetness. Wow, the coffee flavor and oat flavor is utterly fantastic.

Heavier body with low carbonation is right on for the style.

An absolute bomb of coffee and oats. Some sweetness and chocolate notes, along with a hint of earthy/fruit hop character, sneak in. This is an amazing beer.

Sampled on 3-16-12

Appearance: completely black and opaque with a big tan head that leaves behind a ring and lacing.

Smell: all coffee at first, with a huge deep malt character and a good bit of age. Very complex and interesting.

Taste: all coffee up front followed by big flavors of anise, chocolate and a strong burnt character. Enormously complex and enjoyable.

Mouthfeel: thick, viscous, and awesome. Perfect for the flavors.

Overall: an outstanding beer that I will look for whenever I can.

A- Pours absolutely pitch black with a creamy mocha head that settles to a thin lacing but rises to a thicker covering with a quick swirl of the glass.

S- Raw oats, cocoa, and exquisite coffee. Not overly complex, but it is obvious that the ingredients are top-notch.

T- Top of the line coffee, oats, caramel, and cocoa. Absolutely delicious. The flavors couldn't be any better blended.

M- Creamy body with a bit of a carbonation bite. There is some lingering bitterness and coffee astringency.

O- Very tasty. Top-notch ingredients. The alcohol is well hidden. Well-made and worth seeking out.
