2013 vintage

Appearance: Black, with a small, dark, tan head that quickly recedes to the perimeter of the glass.

Smell: Exceptional chocolate/dark fruit sweetness, coffee, caramel, slight vanilla.

Taste: Creamy oatmeal/chocolate beginning. Middle is a coffee blast, followed by a chocolate finish with some roasty residual that gently falls off as the coffee subsides. The finish is quite dry, but ends really nicely. The booze is really well hidden.

Mouthfeel: Creamy, as expected from the oatmeal. It's silky, velvety smooth; so easy to drink.

Overall: This drinks so smooth and really belies the abv you'd guess. Combine that with a great mouthfeel and taste, we've got a winner! I'm glad I bought two!

Dark beer with a small pretty dark head. Relatively viscus.

Smells like coffee and some vanilla. A little non-descript roastiness here. Not too much else. It's nice.

The first thing that pops out in the flavor is dark fruit. A clear acidity coming through due to the coffee. There is a lot of roast flavor and rich coffee, especially on the back end. A little bit of chocolate. Not any vanilla like I found in the nose. Nice to sip and enjoy.

Medium-low carbonation. Very viscus and full-bodied. Decently creamy. I love the mouthfeel.

This is great. Acidic and roasty, but very drinkable and delicate. Not a ton of different flavors, but each of the distinct flavors are complex and highly enjoyable.

Edit: While this beer is awesome--and it is--it's absolutely not worth the price imo. Just want to throw that out.

The beer pours an oily black with a thin dark tan head that fizzles out quickly, but not before coating the inner glass with tight carb slowly succumbing to gravity. The nose is burnt caramel, coffee (more pronounced as it warms), chocolate, a little bitterness, and a touch of fruitiness. The taste definitely brings forward a rich coffee bitterness swept over by full bodied sweetness and a lingering bitter-sweet coffee aftertaste. It's got the body I'd expect from a big double stout with modest alcohol, little carbonation, and most of its bitterness derived from the coffee, though there may be a hop component that creeps up in the finish. This is definitely what I expected; big flavors, great coffee highlights, and affordability.
