11.2 oz bottle, 10.9% ABV, no date (but probably from late 2014 or early 2015). Pours black with reddish hues. Pretty cascading khaki head. Smells of dark cocoa, heavy roasted malts, and some subtle earthy hops. The taste is packed full of flavor; malts, cocoa, char, hops, oats, and some nuttiness. Not much coffee coming out. Slight alcohol warming, but it helps to cut through the heavy body. Very full mouthfeel. The carbonation is low-medium. Overall, really enjoyed the flavor complexity and thick mouthfeel.

L: Pitch black, with a little head that dissolves quickly
S: Smells medicinal, no coffee, no chocolate, no alcohol
T: Disappointing, the most prominent flavor is medicine...very strange. Not sure how this passed quality control. It's unbelievable that this currently has a 4.32 rating.
F: It's thick and smooth. Great feel.
O: Not good, and pricey. Worst of both worlds.

A: The body is opaque black with a thin caramel/coffee head. It has no retention but some lacing.
S: The smell is too unnoticeable. Only if you concentrate, you can barely feel some coffee and beneath it some alcohol. It's actually quite interesting to barely find alcohol in its aroma even if it has an astounding 10.9% ABV.
T: This is great. You have the sweetness of the malt in the tip of the tongue and the bitterness of hops in the back of your mouth, all of this intertwined with both sweetness and bitterness of coffe. It's like a missing piece that connects both tastes greatly. I've never experienced nothing like this. It's really well made. Coffee has a really big role in the making this beer awesome.
M: Please stop this. The texture resembles a dense coffee, being close to perfection. In the end of the sip, you first get the kick of alcohol and then you get your mouth sweet as hell, with a bitter touch to it. This is something I've never before.
O: Being a beer geek who loves coffe, this beer comes to me as the best of two worlds. Thank you gods of beer and coffee. I'll be preaching for Mikkeller's Beerk Geek Brunch Weasel until I die.

Saw this on the menu at Brasserie V and had to get one. Slightly expensive at $13 a glass, but civet coffee is expensive. Black body. Huge chocolate coffee aroma. Big roasted coffee taste. Lots of chocolate flavor. The coffee taste is really good but different. It’s a very earthy coffee.

Near black with a pencil's width of mocha-colored head. Cream and chocolate on the nose, with just a hint of coffee in the background. Insanely thick and creamy mouthfeel, again with cream and chocolate upfront and bitter coffee in the backend. Delightful.

An attractive thick black stout with a small, creamy tan head. Light lacking showing quaility brewing and ingredients. The aroma is a light coffe smell, with roasted malts and light dark chocolate. I was surprised that the aroma was not more pronounced. Taste is creamy, smooth, thick and coffee flavored. I also taste chocolate and an unidentifiable spice. This beer is dry at the finish with a roasty bitterness. Overall all a quality beer. It is brewed at a higher quality than other coffee oatmeal stouts but pricier. Terrapin is a better buy if you like the coffee flavor and taste. For mouthfeel -Beer Geek Brunch Weasel.

Reminiscent of biting into high percentage dark chocolate cocoa, 90% or higher with premium coffee notes! It's dry and smooth yet not silky or bitter. This beer becomes more enjoyable with every sip. It is a great morning/after dinner/evening/desert beer! Enjoy!

Dark reddish brown color, minimal brown head. Aroma is sweet roasted coffee beans dusted with milk chocolate cocoa powder. Subtle purple fruits, vanilla, and butterscotch. Taste is a little more assertive at the front with roasted coffee bean sharpness, bittersweet chocolate, and the presence of alcohol. Sweet and dry cocoa as well. Mouthfeel is super smooth, caramel sauce but not so thick.

Black with a small, but seriously creamy head. Smell is of berry-like coffee, bittersweet chocolate, and some citrus. Flavor is a smooth blend of coffee and chocolate...nuts, berries, vanilla, dark chocolate covered cherries. Mouthfeel is the star of the show - creamy, velvety smooth, and thick, but drying out in the finish aided by a roasty bitterness. The aroma is the only real let-down of an otherwise nicely balanced coffee stout.

A: Nearly zero head, even after rigorous pour. Bubbles apparent in glass however.

S: Nice roasted smell, alcohol as well as chocolate and coffee notes.

T: Chocolate is big in this one, followed by cold pressed coffee. First sweet, then bitter. Also a slight marshmallow flavor to this one right where chocolate transfers to coffee.

M: Thick, full feel. Medium low carbonation, appropriate for style. Roast gives this a long finish.

O: A nice brew for the style. Not a ton here to differentiate from others of the same style but good overall. Price indicates to me that there are reasonable substitutes available.

Shiny black with a wispy tan froth. Sweet and metallic to the nose with a few notes of chocolate and espresso. On the tongue a blanket of grain settles slowly across a bed of dark chocolates, dark fruit, roasted cacao nibs and sugar cane. Herbal hop notes at the finish and just enough punch to keep it lively.

A nice balance between rough and raw and fancy and refined leads to nothing but damn fine drinking here.

Hides the aBv well .

Taste is filled with coffee! I mean filled. Smell went along as well. Hints of dark fruit and nibs. Thick taste and full bodied. Really wish it wasn't $8 a bottle :(

Look: Beautiful looking stout. Jet black with a creamy 1 finger espresso colored head.
Smell: Huge coffee smell. Makes you know that you are in for a treat.
Taste: Rich coffee and malt. Slight bakers chocolate. The most amazing part is that there is a slightly sweet taste to it. Very well crafted flavors. Taste lingers on your tongue until the next sip. No alcohol taste at all.
Feel: Thick but smooth mouth feel. The mouth feel of this beer is one of the high point.
Overall: This beer opened me up to the potential of Mikeller. I have had some of their other offering in their San Francisco bar but until now I have had mixed feelings. This is a serious beer. A must try for any beer lover.

I got this one finally and after being dissapointed by the regular BG Breakfast I was slightly apprehensive.

A - I'm not sure if this is common but while pouring, gently, two large pieces of yeast cake splashed into the glass! I was not amused and the event biased the look score. After I cleaned the mess the beer did have a deep black color and a rocky dark brown head with solid lacing.

S - Rich malt smell with complimentary roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. Definitely a rich beer with great depth. There is only a slight hint of alcohol and some graininess.

T - Lots of flavor with a very robust character dominated by coffee, chocolate, roast, malt, and that distinct oats character that I really enjoy. Quite balanced with all of the flavors without one facet really stealing the show. The coffee character is better than most with a robust dark roasted coffee character but without harshness or bitter that you can sometimes get. There is some faint bitterness from the roasted malt but is malt forward and overall to the sweeter side. Not too much coffee or too sweet and good flavor.

M - Medium to high mouth-feel with lower carbonation. Silky feel and a lightly lingering sweetness that you would expect from an Imperial Oatmeal Stout. Not too cloying but has some residual sweetness.

Overall, a very good Imperial Coffee Oatmeal stout. It isn't as heavy as some or as deep as others but it does well for what it is trying to accomplish. Definitely not going to be one that I drink often both with the incident and at $10 a bottle. I'm going to just stick with Founders for this type of beer in the future.

There is some dark chocolate flavor but it is surprisingly thin for a big stout. The roasted bitterness is decent but, again, not quite up to snuff for a big stout.

Pours jet black and slightly slick and oily with a finger of thick and frothy light brown foam.

A blast of chocolate, ground coffee, and espresso hits immediately with a faint vanilla or cream sweetness.

Solid coffee flavor rounded out with chocolate, vanilla/cream, and some light earthy hop flavor.

Heavy-bodied, light-medium carbonation, slightly chewy, creamy smooth.

Overall, a top notch coffee beer that all coffee fans need to try.

The best coffee stout I have had to date. While familier with ca phe chon I have never had it alone, but my god if this is any indication it must be fantastic.
First off, I love big bold beers. To me this isn't one of those.

This is beauty

In the glass it appears unassuming but still delicious and dark

The smell is a sign of what to is to come, sweet coffee and chocolate
The Abv is unbelievably well hidden behind the most gorgeous velvety smooth coffee flavor, the roast is fantastic while not being overbearing and the dark fruits intertwine in the back ground to balance everything out.

L: Deep, dark brown. Very viscous, pours like warm used motor oil. Very thin brown head that dissipates pretty quickly to a tan ring.

S: Sweet and smoky, rich roasted full bodied coffee aroma, chocolate undertones.

T: Up-front coffee punch followed with smoky/earthy notes, semi-sweet dark chocolate, lightly drying coffee and sweetness in the aftertaste.

F: Light carbonation, syrupy smooth and thick

O: Excellent example of a solid oatmeal stout, highly recommend.

Appearance - The beer was jet black with a slightly reddish mocha head.

Smell - The beer was an earthy coffee aroma.

Taste - The initial taste was a mild dark earthy coffee. Black licorice notes are present. The coffee becomes progressively more dry and bitter in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - For an imperial stout, I found the beer to be thin.

Overall - This is an enjoyable coffee stout.

Would be a perfect grade except for the bottles I've purchase, those have been very tame and meh, tap on the other hand has been phenomenal leading me to believe the bottles were old.

Poured from a bottle into a snifter, the beer is jet black and pours thick, with a clingy, creamy, dark tan head that slowly settles out across the top of the beer. Aromas of fresh ground roasted coffee, with a pretty solid smack of smoke, tobacco, charred wood, licorice, and a hint of booze. Flavors are heavy dark roast coffee forward, with a solid backbone of rich bittersweet chocolate. Highlights of campfire smoke and cigar tobacco are prominent, with lesser accents of licorice, cream, and booze heat darting in and out. Insanely smooth and velvety in mouth, with a coating effect throughout your mouth. Impressive. The aftertaste has a more subtle blend, compared to the palate, of coffee and chocolate, with the highlights slowly fading away. Smooth, thick, velvety finish, with a subtle coffee linger. Very tasty, very well crafted beer. Bravo!

Strong bitter coffee aroma with slight chocolate mixed in too. Very dark brown color with not much head or lacing. Taste is of oatmeal, some vanilla, bittersweet chocolate and coffee. Pretty thick mouthfeel, creamy with a nice earthy bitter finish. Very well done stout!

Look: Great look. Nice dark body and good looking dark head that is lasting.
Smell: Soy sauce mixed with a mocha.
Taste: Coffee, sweetness, and chocolate, with a splash of organic soy sauce. The taste melds together well, but I dislike the faint soy sauce. The only place soy sauce belongs, is on rice and with sushi...maybe barbecue...any teriyaki.
Feel: Not bad at all. Mellow and somewhat thick..er.

Overall - Nice, smooth, and easy going. I like her quite a bit. I'm going to call her back tomorrow. Reminds me of an Expedition Stout, but a tad better.

She gets better as she warms...duh.

330mL - no best before date. Poured into a tulip glass.

A: Pitch black with minimal head, a syrupy lacing left around the edge of the glass.
S: Is this a beer glass, or a coffee mug? Lovely roasted coffee notes. Also has a chocolatey, rich, full aroma to it - indicates a heavy body.
T: A creamy, coffee monster. An element of sweetness towards the end. Bitterness comes from the coffee, cannot find much hop profile in this one. Very drinkable considering the ABV.
M: Full, thanks to the oatmeal. Minimum carbonation. Perfect as a dessert treat.
O: An excellent coffee stout, very approachable. Have BA versions (Islay, Slyrs, Bourbon, Cherry Wine, Congac) in the cellar - a fantastic base beer for aging, in my opinion.

On tap at Rattle n Hum, NYc. WOW!

Look? Not worth a second lokk as it`s pitch black. Smell? Negligable. Maybe too cool from the tap, but aroma is negligible. Taste? Now this is where we want to be.

At this point all else is almost irrelevant. The taste is the thing. It fulfills & lingers without dominating the realm.

Fault me if you will, but unless you experience this thing, you have no right to disclaim. Truly.
