Appearance: clear dark amber / copper color with a thin white head and an OK lacing, but not great (due to low temperature of the beer).

Aroma: a metric ton of hops: fruits, pine, grass. Also some caramel and earthy notes, but very subtle. Alcohol is also present, but it's in the back and doesn't bother me that much. It is an Imperial IPA so you kinda have to expect some alcohol notes in the aroma I guess.

Taste: citrus, caramel, lots and lots of bitterness and some sweetness in the back as well. No traces of alcohol in taste, but it warms you pretty nicely. A bit of pineapple aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: medium to low carbonation, medium to full bodied.

Overall: very good IIPA. Better than BrewDog's Hardcore IPA (and therefore better than I Hardcore You), but not the best IIPA from Mikkeller (best one I had so far was 1000 IBU). Really nice beer, worth reccomending.

Enjoyed from a teku glass.

I havent been to happy with some of the recent DIPA's I have had,I wont name names but Iam missing the hop equation and not liking the sweetness in alot of them...this beer to me exemplifies what a DIPA should be.Poured a deep burnt orange with a large sticky white head that left globs of lace as it settled very slowly into a frothy mass.Intense Simcoe and Amarillo hop aromas, leathery, insanely resiny, tropical fruit, and a big sweet caramel base to hold its own to th big hop onslaught.Deep pine resin flavors with that leather component to go along with overripe tropical fruit,a big honeyed sweetness stands true to the finish. The alcohol is big and brash lending hefty sweetness to the finish. This is a great beer its thick and mouth coating, bold and intensly hoppy, now this is what Iam talkin about!

Appearance - This ale has a nice, light golden color with a beautiful, pitting white head.

Smell - There's a wonderful orange citrus aroma here that is very easy on the olfactory bulb. It is very pure and not harsh at all like that rindy smell you find in ales using cheaper ingredients.

Taste - This wonderful hop flavor from the nose is just as light and easy in the mouth. I don't get a big malt flavor here like you do with a lot of DIPAs. There's another interesting fruity flavor here that's kind of light and reminds me of fresh grapes.

Mouthfeel - This is medium-bodied with lively carbonation and an approachable bitterness.

Drinkability - This is an easy-drinking session ale packing a lot of alcohol so be careful.

It's about damn time Mikkeller made an IPA.

An inviting sunrise color with a beige head. It glows.

Powerful yet indecisive aromas. I believe the 9.75% abv is lending to a catty note. It also smells a bit like a donut to me. Not sure which kind.

Quite bitter palate from the hops and alcohol. It's lacking balance and vibrant flavors. The mouthfeel is a little on the lean side and the booze is there from start to finish. I can see people getting into this, but I believe it lacks finesse and dimension. That being said, it's not all bad, it's hoppy.

The beer pours an orange color with a white head. The aroma is a mix of various hops. I get some pine, resin and orange hop notes. The flavor is more of the same, with the pine and resiny hops mixing well with the caramel malt backbone. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

On Tap

Churchill's Pub & Grille

Dark copper, rust, and orange in color with a thin off-white head that leaves a few dots of stick down the glass--but not much.

This has a very aggressive, strong aroma, with lots of citrus hop character, pine, and big notes of dominating, stinging alcohol.

The flavor follows a similar, unfortunate route, with big bitterness and hot, stinging alcohol dominating the big citrus and pine. There's tons of hop character here, but it's presented in an unpleasant fashion. There's also a chemical flavor as well that doesn't help much at all.

Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, though a bit oily.

I had a tough time working my way through my 10oz. glass.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of Oct 2014. Acquired a little while back from the Brewdog online shop. The label states that it was brewed at Brewdog's Ellon brewery. I've been wanting to try this ever since I first had 'I Hardcore You'...

Poured into a Delirium chalice. Bottle conditioned. A rich coppery-orange hue with fine sediment and medium carbonation. Produces a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Aroma of vehement hops with notes of pine resin, weed, orange peel, mild citrus, a mélange of fruits and subtle grass/hay. This is underpinned by sweet caramel malt, mildly earthy yeast and a warming whiff of booze. Pretty full-on.

Tastes of exceptional hoppiness; a full frontal assault on the palate and an extreme bitter finish. Notes of pine resin, dank weed, grapefruit, orange peel, tropical fruit, citrus, grass/hay, caramel malt, earthy yeast and stewed hops. Slightly sweet and decidedly alcoholic, followed by a zealous bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with well-judged carbonation and good body. Hop oils tantalise the tastebuds. Highly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops, pine resin, caramel malt and booze.

Woooo - with each mouthful, a tsunami of hops envelops the palate. Looks good, while the aroma and flavour are overwhelmingly hoppy. A ton of pine and fruit notes along with sweet caramel. The alcohol character seems obvious but well-balanced. Nice body. A solid double IPA; intense but satisfying. Worth sampling, particularly if you want to saturate your senses.

Really liked the radioactive orange glow of this. The aroma is a hop whallop of all kinds of the stuff, and of course the citrus, pine and even mint in this one.

Taste, pretty bitter, and I was drinking this after some pretty bitter ipa's last weekend. Didn't find it abrasive or an alcohol punch at all, in fact, I can't think of anything to style that hides it as well as some elite brews (PTE, Hopslam). While it has a ton of hop varieties, you can't really navigate them for their own properties, as there's just too much here. Not complex, just massive, in a good way.

Pricey, but worth checking it out at least once if you fashion yourself a hop head. Getting it fresh is another story. . .

On-tap at the Brick Store.

Pours an almost opaque dark copper color with a one-finger off-white head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on top leaving solid lacing.

Smells of deep caramel malts with hints of graininess and large amounts of pine and herbal hops.

Tastes very similar to how it smells. Robust and mildly dry caramel malt flavors kick things off and are joined quickly by large amounts of pine hop flavors. Midway through the sip herbal hops make their way into things and carry through to a solidly bitter ending.

Mouthfeel is OK. It's got a nice thickness however the carbonation is on the harsh side of things.

Drinkability is good. I didn't have any problems finishing my glass and could have another.

Overall I thought this was a nice beer but it really didn't have any single characteristic that stood out as above average. Still, it's worth a shot to see for yourself.

330ml bottle. At last Europe's two biggest hop wankers come together, lord almighty, at last!

This beer pours a hazy dark golden brown hue, with two fat fingers of foamy, chunky off-white head, which leaves some sparse, but still attractive, webbed lace around the glass as it ebbs away. It smells of caramel cream, and thunderous (is thunder odorous? Ponder that...) bitter fruity, piney hops. The taste is toffee-tinged caramel malt, subtle at first in the face of overpowering muddled citrus and pine hop astringency (the loving kind), but evolves into something more, well, solid and domineering, against outright expectation. Underlying this little war of attrition is a soft alcohol warming, that has the good graces to never act up. The carbonation is restrained, but not exactly a wallflower either, the body a solid medium weight, and decently smooth in the face of its crazy local detractors. It finishes hoppy as shit (check that box), but not one-sided at any rate - the malt doing its best to play the stolid unsung hero.

It hurts just a little saying this, but this unholy Euro-alliance has fookin' nailed it. A 10 points less change ABV monster that tastes only (in the things that really matter) of beastly hops, and the malt that loves it. Yummy even at the stupid one-off, import price. Oh, and couldn't the original submitter at least have preserved the label wordplay? I just don't grok the concept of IBYU, y'know?

A- Dark amber body with a fluffy off white head. Sticky lacing all down the glass.

S- Hops dominate the nose with floral notes. Pine and sweet orange as well.

T- Intense pine resin and grapefruit flavors along with a bit of caramel. Massive hop bitterness on the finish.

M- Oily and a little thick on the tongue, but the bitter hops keep it from feeling flabby. Medium bodied IPA.

O- Well crafted DIPA. Hop forward for sure. This represents a good mix of east and west coast versions of IPA. I'd buy again.
