I really love coffee beers and I think Mikeller make some of the best out there.
I had to pour this into a tulip glass. These beers usually have such a nice bouquet of smell that you would just loose it in a regular glass. This beer is dark, real dark. The head even had a malt chocolate color to it. Not a lot of head forms during the pour some does hang out though for a bit and looks a little like pancake batter. The smell is great. The bitterness of the coffee mixed with the hops is just perfect. Wow okay so the first sip is a lot of hop. I was totally not expecting that. The smell really masks the amount of hop character in this beer. As with most of my experience with hoppy beers as I progress through the beer the hop flavor lessens and I begin to taste other parts of the beer I just couldn't at first. Towards the end of my first glass I began to taste the coffee creeping back and man this beer really started to shine. There is a nice little bubbly burn from the carbonation. The overall mouth feel is nice. The beer is rather light on the palate for being so dark.
This beer is deceptive all around. I thought it smelled well balance between the coffee and the hops. Turns out their is a lot of hop flavor that really competes with the coffee. The beer didn't form a big head yet there was a decent amount of carbonation. Then its dark and the overall mouth feel is medium bodied. Tricky Tricky Mikkeller! Overall this is a really good brew. I loved every sip. While this is not my favorite beer geek but still better than most other coffee beers out there. Pick one up and feel free to drink it anytime; kind of like how breakfast can be eaten at any time.

Poured from a pint bottle into a goblet.
A - Deep brown color that does not allow light through, although it appears clear at the edges. Dark tan head is initially fluffy and settles to a thick ring around the glass and shimmering sheets of tiny bubbles on the surface.
S - Aroma is fairly evenly balanced between roasty, full malt and citrusy American hops. There are interesting other smells in the background. Smoke, leather, an unusual earthy herbal note. There is low fruit like plums.
T - Strong roasted coffee flavor up front, Slightly acrid and smoky, with warm malt and chocolate milk behind it. Strong hops bitterness cuts through the malt in mid-palate. The hops taste more earthy than citrusy, but there is faint grapefruit in the background. The finish is dry, bringing back the coffee and smoky flavors.
M - Medium to full body with some mouth-coating malt, eventually finishing fairly dry with an astringency from the roasted malt. Moderate to full carbonation is smooth with a slightly tingly finish. Definite alcohol presence but not overly hot.
O - A very enjoyable beer. It is big and has bold flavors, but it has comparatively more balance than many American stouts.

I am about to finish the beer when i start the review. I already want another one. Noooow!!!
Pours pitch black. Dark brown collar into the light. A beautiful two finger head that stays there. Creamy appearance. I think this is the most appealing sight that you can have while looking at a beer.
Smells of coffee, milk, roasted malt... coffee again. In the background dark fruits kick in. Beautiful.
Tastes bitter, hops very present. Tastes sweet also, milky and creamy.
It ends with coffee (two kinds), dark chocolate, roasted malts, dried plums, cherries and the list can go on.
Medium carbonation with a zingy feel to it.
