Huge thanks to Finewinemike for this one

750ml bottle into a Goblet Glass

A- Pours a golden honey orange that's almost copper with 3 fingers of super fluffy off white head that sticks around for quite a while. Really nice retention and alcohol legs.

S- Really strong fruity aromas hit me up front of tropical fruits, orange, lemon zest, pear, vinous grapes, banana, and slight clove. The beer definitely has an astringency to it and getting some slight funky aromas but not to intense. Brett is definitely there.

T- Just like the aroma but so much more complex. Fruity flavors come through with banana, clove, orange, lemon zest, tropical fruits just like the aroma but more Belgian yeast centered. Slight funky brett and funk create a nice slightly tart body but very balanced between sour and creamy. The barrels present a strong oak flavor of vanilla, slight char, and vinous grapes. Really nice

M- Medium bodied with a really clean mouthfeel that has a slightly bitter presence and funk.

Skål!

2012 vintage poured into Barrelworks Teku. Cellared at 50 degrees for two years on it's side.

Pours a burnt orange with two finger cream head that settles to a nice 3 ml layer. Carbonation seems to have actually lightened compared to when fresh.

Aroma is deep bread, candied orange, blood orange flesh, yellow raisin, fresh fig pulp, lemon peel, and light red wine. The nose has morphed into an earthier, breadier character than the brighter fruit and white wine notes of the young beer.

The flavor has also seen the same changes that were present on the nose. The hops have faded leaving behind a maltier based flavor with a touch more elevated yeast presence. Orange pulp, light tamarind, bread dough, sweet floral tea, and pink wine overtones dominate the palate. Has really aged nice and considering that fresh it was phenomenal, this is still very much at the same level it was before.

Mouthfeel is heavier side of light with slightly spritzy carbonation a couple of notches down than it once was. Still a good 70 percent on the carbonation scale. Drinks crisp and not quite dry with some residual sugars on the finish.

This has aged gracefully and though I think I preferred it fresh this has it's own intriguing set of nuances that makes it special. Much like champagne picks up truffle, earth, mineral qualities as it cellars this seems to go the same route thanks to a substantial malt base and Brett yeast presence.

A: 4.5 Clear reddish copper with a one inch off white head.

S: 4.25 Lots is citrusy hops and a bit of dank. Fruity and floral with a little bit of funk.

T: 4.5 Slightly tart. Juicy and a bit sweet up front with lots of citrus and a good hop presence. Tropical fruit accompanies the dry oak flavors from the wine barrels. Finishes with slight bitterness.

M: 4.25 Slightly under carbonated but overall a nice feel. A little viscous with a pleasant dryness.

O: 4.5 Very flavorful and easy drinking. Not particularly sour or funky, but those characteristics go well with the barrel and hops.

A: Pours a hazy orange-tinged amber with a tight, creamy off-white head.

S: Aromas of bitter orange, kumquat, lemon, lime, grapefruit, papaya, mango, and tangerine are supported by subtle scents of biscuit and caramel.

T: Notes of caramel, biscuit, minerals, lemon, lime, grapefruit, bitter orange, kumquat, mango, and tangerine are underscored by delicate flavors of lychee, white pepper, white tea, and herbs. The finish is dry and is quite herbal with herb and grass flavors mingling with pronounced notes of lemon, lime, kumquat, and bitter orange.

M: Medium in body and very dry. Carbonation is incredibly firm and crisp. Alcohol is subdued. Dangerously easy to drink.

O: Another awesome Belgian-style ale from Mikkeller. I cannot recommend this one highly enough.
