A: Pours a hazy orange-tinged amber with a tight, creamy off-white head.

S: Aromas of bitter orange, kumquat, lemon, lime, grapefruit, papaya, mango, and tangerine are supported by subtle scents of biscuit and caramel.

T: Notes of caramel, biscuit, minerals, lemon, lime, grapefruit, bitter orange, kumquat, mango, and tangerine are underscored by delicate flavors of lychee, white pepper, white tea, and herbs. The finish is dry and is quite herbal with herb and grass flavors mingling with pronounced notes of lemon, lime, kumquat, and bitter orange.

M: Medium in body and very dry. Carbonation is incredibly firm and crisp. Alcohol is subdued. Dangerously easy to drink.

O: Another awesome Belgian-style ale from Mikkeller. I cannot recommend this one highly enough.

Pours hazy orange in color with big amount of sediment. Fizzy white head is about 1 finger and retains nicely.

Smell is good, some dry white wine aromas along with a big Belgian yeast aroma. Little bit of funk.

Taste follows te nose. Slight white wine tartness and a little but of funk. Dry finish with a very light malt sweetness.

Drank from a 1 pt 9.4 fl oz corked and caged bottle purchased at Julio's Liquors, Westboro, MA
Served in a flute

Gorgeous appearance. The beer poured a slightly hazed, medium amber color and was topped by a four-finger, light tan, meringue-like crown that nearly spilled out of the glass. The light, airy mass faded to a lasting cap and deposited chunks of bubbly, frothy lacing all down the glass.

The aroma was amazingly dynamic and one of the most complex I have ever come across in a beer. Belgian yeast notes were immediately recognizable. Good amount of white wine flavor. Quite funky and oaky. Lots of fruity sweetness and brett-like tartness. Notes of grapefruit zest were apparent as well. There was also a grassy hop presence that became stronger as the beer warmed.

Like the nose, the flavor profile was incredibly interesting. The white wine and barrel character came through strong right off the bat. Lots of fruity, Belgian yeast notes. The beer was anchored by semi-sweet, bready/caramel malt base. Good dose of bretty tartness and crisp lemon notes. Smooth, grassy, Saaz-style hops were quite apparent, particularly on the crisp, dry finish. Really nice overall balance and very easy drinking for 9%.

The mouthfeel was creamy, smooth and supple. Pillowy soft on the palate. The liquid contained a super fine, frothy effervescence.

The use of wild yeasts, Nelson Sauvin hops and Sauvignon Blanc barrel aging really turned this Belgian ale into a spectacularly complex and enjoyable beer. This was one of the most interesting offerings I have had in a long time, and one of the best beers ever from Mikkeller. I would recommend drinking this one as fresh as possible in order to enjoy all that hoppy goodness.
