Bottled. Pours opaque pitch black with a small, tan head that leaves a good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark fruits, vanilla and bourbon. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry with alcohol notes. Full bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A great imperial stout.

Appearance of this beer is probably the best thing it has going for it, with a thick mocha head sitting on pure obsidian.
The smell is vanilla ice cream, banana peel, alcohol and dark chocolate; maybe a hint of Bourbon, but nothing like I anticipated.
Charred oak, alcohol, dark chocolate, roasted malts in the taste, with an intense, medicinal, bitter after-taste - like that first spoon of cough syrup your parents shoved in your mouth as an eight year old. Also: ASTRINGENCY.
This is a sipper, though I'm not sure whether that's because of the high ABV or simply because it's not very good.

I'm fairly certain that I bought this in May 2011 at Geers. Batch #462, Brygge 191009, Best Fore 191014. Poured into DFH chalice.
A - Looks great. Dark, black pour. Thick dark-brown head forms and sticks to the side of the glass. I want to drink this badly at this point.
S - Fudge, vanilla, slight sweetness and a lot of wood. The previous sentence appears appealing, but it really isn't. I didn't like the aroma much. Too subtle favorable aromas and too much woody oddness.
T - Dark malts, booze, chocolate/coffee/bourbon. Coffee is subdued. Burnt oak/wood finish. There is certainly a noticeable level of alcohol present, which is a turnoff with the rest of the flavors. Finish is slightly dry.
M - Nearly perfect. Great body, good level of moderate carbonation. I couldn't ask for much more.
O - Something in both the flavor and smell really bother me. The rest is nice. The beer is just too hot at 2 years old and just doesn't do it for me. I really expect more out of the flavors in a BA RIS. I will not seek this one out again, at least from this batch.

Pours black with a very dark tan head.
Nose shows coffee, bourbon, oak, vanilla, roasted malt, coconut and cocoa. Lovely.
Bold flavours. Lots of roasted malt and coffee along with bourbon and soft oak. A fair bit of booze, but not aggressive or sharp. Pretty full-on.
Carbonation is almost non-existent. Needs a creamier mouthfeel.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a small bubbly head with minimal retention and no lacing. Aroma is dominated by bourbon notes with light traces lactose. Taste is quite heavy on the bourbon with small traces lactose and some black chocolate; coffee is almost not perceptible and the end results are too one-dimensional. Body is full with will rounded texture with very low carbonation and not too much apparent alcohol. While this is still enjoyable it is but a pale copy of its un-barrel cousin.

A - Absolutely no light getting through this one and pours as Black as night, with a two fingerd tanned head that reduces to a thick film and laces.
S - Heavy bourbon aromas, with some beef extract a little expresso also.
T - Some nice balanced sweetness up front followed by some heavy molassis, with hints of vanilla. nice smoky flavour before a deep expresso finish that is boozy with a little Bourbon.
M - Full and low carbonation and quite smooth.
O - A little disappointed not to have more Bourbon in the flavour but not the array of flavours on offer. Could be a little less sticky and better balanced.

Bottle Duex of the Breakfast Geek Weasel tasting.
Pours into a snifter.
Identical appearance to the regular Weasel. Dark, one finger tan foam etc.
Nose is quite different. Lots of bourbon on the nose in the distance the base beers can be identified.
Taste is not what I expected after the nose. It's the Weasel with a subtle bourbon and vanilla flavor. A bit more heat on this one.
Mouthfeel very much like the Weasel as well. Except that it has a slightly lighter body.
This on is my favorite. It fantastic, it's excellent. The big bourbon nose, the surprise of the subtle flavors... it's like a littl beer adventure. GET IT WHEN YOU CAN!

A-- Poured basically black. No light penetrating this at all. One finger dark brown leather head that settled at film. Pretty much stays that way as well. Looks thick and heavy. Good spotty lacing and obvious ABV legs.
S-- Oak and bourbon. Get touches of oat, dark fruits and seaweed. Combines to make more of a sherry really. Interesting nose but far different from the base beer.
T-- Oak, spiced bourbon, vanilla, salted chocolate fudge, tobacco, and a touch of dark fruits. Alcohol really picks up with this opening up. Hops have dropped off totally though.
M-- Slick and oliy. Dry Oak spicy bourbon finish. Lot of tannins with this and really wine like except for the charred sweetness in the mid and back palate that smooths everything out before the finish. Alcohol is still very present for a 3 year old beer.
O-- Really different than the base beer with the barrel treatment but I think this is at peak now. Radically different than US BA beers with the lack or just slight bits of sweetness as compared to the much sweeter BA stouts from home. It works as a quite complex beer that borders on a big bold shiraz. Good stuff.

500ml brown bottle that ive been holding on to for awhile. Shared with friends and poured into a matching Mikkeller teku. The brew pours black in color with a khaki head. A solid retention of about a finger. A swirl revives the finger back to the surface and produces spots of lace on the glass.
The aroma is earthy with a mild citrus element before blending into more of a roasted character. It displays almost a fruity dark alcohol character towards the backend. Little to no barrel presence is felt here in the aromatics.
The flavor is bitter with roasty grain coming across like cocoa. Some mild citrus notes are caught between a hoppiness and character similar to what some fresh coffee beans display. There is a solvent burst of alcohol towards the finish. The aftertaste includes a very mild barrel presence imparting flavors of raw oak and an accenting amount of booziness.
This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. It is smooth in the feel and overall easy drinking. Having drank this side by side with the barrel aged breakfast version, this one had a more defined coffee inclusion. However, it was not worth the trouble and price I paid to acquire this. Your money is better spent on the non-barrel aged version considering how minimal the barrel impact is in this brew.

Pours a very dark colour, just hints of brown when held up to the light. Head is as good as they get - ochre colour, foamy and great retention. Lace is not very sticky but the beer just looks coherent. It just works.
Smells a bit odd, yeah. Spiritous, with big burnt, spicy undertones, but also a slight acidity to it. Definite espresso with nutmeg, plus some balsamic vinegar notes, and some strong Irish cream character on the back. Nice.
Taste is dark and roasty and spicy, but with a pleasant, almost tangy sweetness to it on the end. Lots of roasty espresso, peppery and some floral notes. Nice boozey sweetness on the back, hints of dark fruit, plum and raisins and a big maraschino cherry character as well. Big and bold and sweet, with a big booze character to it. Yeah, I like the mix of flavours. I like it a lot.
Smooth, full, not too harsh at any point. Amazing mouthfeel for the ABV.
Great big stout. Nice fruit, sweetness, roastiness. Yeah, there's a cracking balance to this.

Jet black ale with a solid cinnamon colored head. Wavy lacing.
Wonderfully mellow, roasted aroma of burnt wheat, molasses and hints of maple wood. As it warms, I can detect some tobacco notes.
Rich malty flavor, highly roasted. Espresso notes. Oats add a smoothness and body. Dark chocolate. Maple sweetness. Assertive, earthy, pine like hop. Excellent balance.
Full bodied. Malt and oats add a great texture. Slick in the middle with a slightly dry, crisp finish. Low carbonation works perfectly for the style. One of the best mouthfeels for a double stout I have yet to experience.
One word: World-class.

Pours a lovely deep black-brown, with a somewhat subdued, but very pleasantly dark brown head. Let's face it: it looks like every other Beer Geer Brunch beer. But that's always good: big, smooth, deep and luscious.
Nose is smooth and rich, with some subtle vanilla hints and a touch of booze, which sits above the deep dark roasty characters which form its basis. There's a genuine spiciness to it, which is odd. It's not a big nose, and it's missing some depth and sweetness, but it's decent enough.
Taste is solidly dark and roasty, with only the faintest flecks of the bourbon barrel, giving a slight upturn of oak, but very little in the way of true rich, smooth sweetness. Instead, it has a potent, and admittedly strong roasty character, and the intrinsic smoothness of the Beer Geek Brunch base, but I'm a little worried that very little is added by the bourbon.
Feel is smooth and rather clean. But with a pleasant depth. No-one could complain about that.
Don't get me wrong. It's a great beer. Just like any beer in the series. Unfortunately, I would have thought the bourbon barrel would have been better than the average, and in fact, it's below that. It's disappointing.

Poured from a 500mL glass into a Teku glass at the BrewDog bar in Edinburgh. Bottled 19 October 2009. From notes. Reviewed May 2011.
A: Light mocha head fizzes and dissolves. The beer is brown as night. Opaque, dark, and mysterious.
S: Hmm. Soy sauce is my first thought, then massives waves of sweet, sweet alcohol. Bourbon-y, yes, but smoky. Almost meaty.
T: Nearly exceptional...belay that, the beautiful finish is still going, and going. BGBW (Bourbon) is complicated, temperamental, mercurial. I'm getting salted fish, huge sticky toffee, coffee bitterness, bourbon alcohol, and other things I can't even pin down. The aftertaste is imperious and impressive -- big, roiling bitterness; light and dry; Maker's Mark soaked coffee beans. And it lasts. For. Ever.
M: Thinner than anticipated. Light and flat. Vaguely dry.
O: Astoundingly sippable amd quite rewarding. Worth the hefty price tag. Still, glad I split this one; a whole half-litre would be overkill.
