Serving Type: bottle into brandy snifter

Appearance: One finger head with a lot of lacing. Pours cloudy red

Smell: Not too strong. Has a light lager smell to it with slight sweetness.

Taste: A subtle cherry tartness with an odd bitter aftertaste. I taste a bit of almond in the back of the taste profile.

Mouth: Light bodied. Not that smooth. Very carbonated.

Overall: Given all the ingredients in this beer, it's probably not surprising in how it tastes. It is good for what is has, but it's not the beer for me.

375 mL bottle to pint glass

A: Orange-apricot in color, opaque and effervescent. A big, fizzy head forms immediately but quickly recedes, leaving lacing everywhere.

S: Malt-forward bouquet with distinct notes of cherry. The sweet tones are offset by a backdrop of grassy hops and lingering cracker-y, pastry-like aspects. The added cherries are distinct and although there's a nutty undertone you can't parse the almonds.

T: Malt-forward again, with phenolic tones countering cherry sweetness. The almonds poke though more on the palate than the nose, making a nutty, almost oaky nuance. Grassy hops add a little bitterness and round the palate.

M: Chewy, stodgy body although ample carbonation keeps the palate cleansed.

Nothing breakthrough here but a solid fruit-added beer. A lot of brewers taking stab at this style end up with something more like juice than beer. The beer improved as I worked through the glass.

look: 4 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

Appearance: Pours an unusual color, sort of a blend between cherry and orange, let's call it burnt orange with a reddish hue; the head is impressive, as is the lacing

Smell: Apparently, the name is a Danish play on words for Risalamande, a rice pudding made with cream and almonds and topped with cherry sauce - that is exactly what it smells like, a rice pudding with both sweet and funky cherry tones as well as an almond edge

Taste: Tastes very much like it smells, with the rice pudding flavors opening followed by the cherries, first sweet and then slightly tart and funky; after the swallow, the almond makes an appearance and builds into the finish

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with buoyant carbonation

Overall: I am going against the grain here but I loved this beer - really unusual, too, and that bumps the score for me

A - Great looking beer. Deep raspberry ice tea body with a lightly off-pink head. Great retention and lace.

S - Watery nose. Rose water, rubber erasers, dried plants and hazel nuts.

T - Wow. Much better than the nose. Black cherries, seltzer water, blackberries, earthy noble hops, and a really nice blanched almond backend.

M -Likely syrupy, medium-full frame.

O - Surprisingly strong, and surprisingly pleasant almond flavor.

Pours a pinkish to orange-ish color with a lighter pink to off white head. In the aroma, a sweet fruity nuttiness. In the taste, dryer nuttiness with a small dry cherry presence under that. A smooth and medium bodied mouthfeel, with a small dry nuttiness and hints of cherry in the aftertaste. Quite nutty, but balanced with the small sweet cherries.
