March 20th, 2016 - $8.99 from the local store, this Mikkeller has been sitting in storage for awhile, but I am a little worried about how it fared. The label is scuffed, suggesting some rough and tumble treatment while I was away, and the pour confirms my worst fears: a flat pour, which makes the yeast components look like chunks in a poorly cooked chowder. The nose still has a firm cherry and almond nose, especially chopped almonds. It conjures clear memories of eating almonds daily on a ketogenic diet. And the fruitier side is more like a jam than fresh fruit flesh. But the body has as flat as it looked, and makes this beer taste more like a fruit juice. There's ghosts of cranberry and cherry flavors and a long aftertaste, but the almond has disappeared, probably when the effervescence did.

Sampling a cellar temp 12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Part of a trade with my friend Craig. thanks bro!
The beer pours a bright clear copper color with ruby highlights shining through when held up to the light.
A large dense, yet fluffy looking head of 4 cm foams up even with a gentle pour. This foam recedes slowly and leaves windowpane lattice on my glass.
The aroma is a little tart cherry and some vanilla notes mixing. I also get a slight nutty note and crackery malt. No hops here and the booze is well hidden, for this 8% ABV brew.
The first sip reveals a creamy texture and fine rolling carbonation. there is a little bit of a coating on the swallow. Physical traits on this beer are positive and make for high drinkability.
THe flavor is similar to the nose, but the tartness is even bolder. The cherry hits up front with some sweetness and again vanilla but this rolls to tart cherry and a little acidity on the finish. I still dont get any hints of the ABV and hops are absent too.
This beer is fine, but sort of one dimensional and the cherry isnt balanced by much else. Im glad to have tried this one, and honestly its a little out of my comfort zone, so wont go looking for this one again.

I tasted this beer at the local Mikkeler in Barcelona. I had a double sensation. That it had a very good front beer, complex and with a very long route. Many smells in the nose and many tastes in the mouth. But at the same time I missed a bit of forcefulness.

Deep caramel, copper color and hazy from the yeast. Solid head sticks firmly to the glass. Malty, yeasty, funky aroma. Flavor profile of buttered biscuits, roasted almonds, caramel, molasses, faint earthy hop and hint of cherry. Malty overall. Full bodied with a somewhat grainy texture. Reminds me of a light syrup.

A- First off....the lacing is incredible, with super thick foamy clouds of tight bubbles all over the glass, after the off white head dissipates slightly. The color of the brew is slightly pinkish copper and is relatively clear. There is some yeast and sediment suspended within the liquid....pretty decent overall!
S- Malty overtones with slight hints of raspberry and other fieldberry blended in there....perhaps some blackberry and/or blueberry. It's a rather refreshing in the smell and there's just a hint of hop bitterness on the finish.
T- There is a distinctly fruit profile happening here, with mellow tartness that reminds me of raspberry and/or strawberry, perhaps some mild cranberry, with notes of apricot kernel and just a nice jammy/marmalade flavor of sorts. There is a biscuit like quality from the yeast and the hop presence is mild but there.
M/O- Creamy texture with mild carbonation and almost dessert like, this is a rather enjoyable beer and a nice proper example of a fruit infused ale! The alcohol is super well hidden and this rivals the best coolers out there....a great summer sipper! I would definitely seek this out again and will pick up more than one if given the chance again!
