Dark black liquid, dark brown head. This looks imperial like Star Wars. Aroma had plenty of roast, ashiness, mild vanilla, oak and bitter coffee roast notes. The white wine barrel all gave it some levity (and maybe some of that vanilla).
Taste is a good juxtaposition of the harsh, roasty, ashy, thick black malt notes along with the high carbonation and light effects of the white wine barrel notes. Good mouthfeel for something so big abv. The addition of the white wine/barrel will definitely leave you reaching for the antacid.
There's a lot of hate for this beer, but I think, price aside, its a good beer. The bottles are far from cheap, but in the Mikkeller world, they're not bad considering even their 12oz ipas are $7.

Mikkeller Black Hole White Wine, bottle at Mug's Alehouse in Brooklyn. Glad to revisit this and re-review the "5" rating I gave this beer previously. Consumed on V-Day 2014.
Appearance: Still and thick, a tad mysterious. A thin line of pervasive head. Oily like soy sauce and a reduced balsamic. Beautiful lacing.
Smell: So unique! Barrel, wood, wine, sourness. Oak. Licorice, bitter chocolate. Acrid sweetness, like a bowl of fruit left out on the table for the whole summer. Coarsely ground coffee.
Taste: Tart and vinous, I don't get that sweetness others write about. Coffee, smoke roastiness, dirty chimney. Charred bacon. This ought to be the best sour-weird stout ever
Mouthfeel: Low in carbonation, as expected (this shit is old!). Full, creamy dark rich flavor and body. Well balanced, neither super rich nor too thin.
Overall: Super drinkable, feels more 9% than 13%. Unique, special. Love!
