A: Pitch black with a nice thick and heavy medium brown head atop it. Fades extremely slowly. Leaves thick frothy lacing behind as well as an island of foam.
S: Intense fruity sweetness, especially raisin. Lots of tequila, molasses and honey. No alcohol burn surprisingly. Don't really get much in the way of roasted malt other than a bit of chocolate. A touch of oak? Very unique smell, not surprising since I've never had tequila-aged anything before. Molasses are especially strong as it warms up.
T: Whoa, what an unusual brew. Lots of super sweet molasses up front and throughout the brew. Some honey and tequila mixes in as the sweetness fades. Roasted malt kicks in briefly with a huge surge of char and a bit of chocolate which fades into the aftertaste. Just a hint of vanilla bean in the lingering aftertaste. No indication to the alcohol content.
M: Heavy, slick and smooth. Not as heavy or syrupy as you would expect for the ABV.
O: Unique for sure. Never had a tequila-aged beer. This was actually surprisingly good. Very strong aromas and flavors so it's definitely not for a beginner. Tequila adds a nice aspect to this brew. The main thing I didn't really like about this beer was the lack of roasted malt character. It gets drowned out and it's more like a crazy barleywine with the intense sweetness and molasses. Otherwise, quite a complex and unique beer.

Served in tulip, from bottle, 49°F
Didn't realize this was a discontinued beer when I recently purchased it. Have been loving Bourbon Barrel beers, and thought "Tequila Aged" sounded intriguing…
A: Black, half inch dark brown head. Great sticky lacing though the session.
S: something different, floral, sweet, hint of coffee… but almost an antiseptic finish on the nose as well.
T: upfront with sweet, astringent, and bitter(?). hard to describe, but I keep on sipping….
M: cloying, thick, and asking you to drink more.
O: different, yet still familiar. Very much a nice change from the bourbon barrel aged items. Glad I tried it, and wish I had gotten two when I found these at 5-points in Athens, GA recently.
