330 ml bottle with silver waxed top - only the silver wax identifies the beer, the label is the same as for the "normal" Beer Geek Brunch Weasel (confirmed by the brewery). Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Pitch black colour, moderate to low brown head. Lovely and complex aroma, beguiling coffee notes blends in with liquorice, vanilla, dark chocolate, oak and cognac. Rich mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. Rich and delightful flavour, medium sweet, not cloying, smooth roast malts and coffee notes with cognac, dark chocolate, vanilla and oak. Jolly good!

A 330ml silver/grey waxed bottle with no bottled on or best before date. Poured into a snifter glass.
Appearance: Black in colour with pretty much no head except for a ring around the glass, and no lacing.
Aroma: Whisky, cognac, dark fruit, light roast, coffee, chocolate, with oaky notes.
Taste: Sweet malt, cognac, bourbon, lightly roasty, coffee, chocolate, boozy, wood.
Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.
Overall: A nice boozy sipper with cognac and bourbon flavours balanced with the light roast, coffee and chocolate.

330ml bottle poured into a snifter.
Pitch black in color, the pour forms up one and a half finger of frothy dark tan head. It retains well with pretty good retention before gradually collapsing to some bubble film on the surface and leaving small amount of lace.
The nose is interesting with rich coffee, cocoa, also dark and creamy yet milky chocolate in the lead. The fruit and spice aroma of cognac barrel closely discloses thereafter together with molasses, caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, toffee, roasted coffee bean, some smoke, and dark bread.
The taste has much bolder cognac barrel profile comparing to the aroma, its spiciness and fruitiness flavor comes in full scale travelling through the taste buds while there are also the flavors of rich coffee, cocoa, also dark and creamy yet milky chocolate, molasses, caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, toffee, roasted coffee bean, some smoke, and dark bread as well as bitterness mostly from roasted malt at the end.
Full body with some stickiness but not that cloying, smooth through the mouthfeel with moderate carbonation that is crisp enough to carry all the things well, finish is very dry and pleasant.
A nice blend of great Stout and cognac, intense and so tasty, alcohol is quite hidden thought.

Review of 2013 8.5oz bottle served in a snifter:
A- Jet black, no head, a few tan bubbles came out to say "We made an effort, we're here," and then promptly left. Leaves light, thin lacing on glass.
S- Tough time picking this out, smells like grandpa's woodshed. Leather/tobacco/old, musty, boozy, coffee/vanilla. Getting more of the tobacco/smokiness as it warms.
T-Big, sweet, get a bit of a winey flavor from the cognac. Leaves that sweet, slight cognac burn. Basically tastes like a hop burn at the end. Char flavor.
M- Big up front, swallows easily, not thin going down, but slick. Very smooth.
O- The first 3/4s of the flavor profile send you to heaven, but the aftertaste from the cognac is killing me, the flavor doesn't jibe. It's like listening to a nice sweet song and the last stanza out of no where turns into a mind thumping metal verse. You aren't expecting it and it doesn't fit for that last quarter. It's got a puckering, roof of the mouth smacking after taste, but more like a palate drying feeling. If I wanted a similar sensation to this beer, I'd do a shot of wine after every sip of a Bourbon County Stout or come to the realization that I don't want this sensation. 3.5 years of waiting on this and ~$20 for an 8.5oz bottle were both mistakes.

Kicks down nothing but black, not even much in terms of a head, barely a brown whisp to it. Aroma was a little different, somewhat similar to brandy, not as hot as other cognac barrel (50/50) stuff I've had. The aroma dropped smoke, alcohol boozy heat, chocolate, leather, earth.
Taste imparted plenty of the coffee and chocolate malt base from this. Coffee is somewhat subdued by the barrel from the cognac. Vanilla came out in the mouthfeel that didn't reveal itself in the nose.
Super expensive, would not repeat, but it was fun while it lasted.

Pours a thick, pitch-black brew, with a foamy head with minimal retention. Smells like coffee, roasted malts, vanilla, dark chocolate and brandy. The taste is amazingly complex - first comes the dark roasted malts, coffee and dark chocolate, and after that you are overwhelmed by sweet maple syrup, vanilla and caramel. Very soft mouthfeel and, thanks to a bit of carbonation, the beer is surprisingly easy to drink.

On tap at Mikkeller Bar in Shibuya, Tokyo.
Dark black body, ominously opaque with a half finger brown head that sticks around for quite a while. A little bit of lacing. Smells of graham crackers, a bit of marshmallow, brown sugar and molasses, slight char, earth, chocolate and coffee. Flavour is an improvement on the nose; sweet cognac, tons of earthy coffee, very rich molasses, dark fruit, graham crackers on the finish. Mouthfeel is fullbodied, lower in carbonation, definitely a sipper. Slight warming heat. Delicious barrel-aged version of an excellent coffee oatmeal imperial stout with a lot of body and a nice depth of flavour to it.
