Thanks to Hoyt for bringing me a bottle of this.

A - orange with a thick, white head that fades to a thin lacing

S - piny, earthy, alcohol

T - spicy, piny, earthy, herbal, faintly citrus - whole spectrum of hops; faint bready malt in the finish

M - warm, medium bodied, smooth, well carbonated

This is a pretty solid DIPA. Most of the burn comes from the alcohol. It's definitely hoppy and hits the whole range of hops. It has a decent amount of malt character in the finish and is balanced. Hop heads will really enjoy this.

Quick note: I don't know if I'm drinking Hop Burn or Hop Burn High. From some quick research, the labels for both appear the same, as do the ABVs. My label matches the one on this BA listing, but it also matches the one on many external reviews of the "Hop Burn High".

Hey! DIPAs from breweries outside of the United States have always been a no win proposition: Bizarre recipes, travel time (freshness issues), proper storage concerns, price... but I decided to pick one of these up at my local Whole Foods and give it a try since BrewDog's Hardcore IPA made me quite happy a week ago. Hop Burn is even better than that. The price tag for American buyers is a bit rough, but the beer pours a beautiful glowing mellow gold, smells of pungent hops, tastes of pungent hops with a lovely whipped cream note... might lose a point in the taste because of a bit of an aspirin bite on the finish. But this is a beer that I'd like to see more readily available in the U.S - I'd buy it in six- or four-packs all the time if a brewery here put it out. Bravo, Mikkeller!

Picked up tonight at the COOP for a little bit less than $4... sounded good at the time... poured into my little CC goblet... fantastic white head with great retention and lacing.... clear orange brew.

Nose is a citrus fruit bowl.. tangerine and pink grapefruit.. nice pale malt element that pulls the hops up and out of the glass.

Not as bitter as most DIPA's... I dig that... again the hops are flowing.. yummy.. lingering citrus note with pale malt sweetness on the finish.

Body is a good medium with plenty of carbonation that still remains small bubble and a bit creamy... surprising how much I liked this one.

Pours a golden honey amber with a finger thick white head that coats the glass.

smells of citrus and pine notes.

Tastes of big hop bitterness (grapefruit) up front that mellows as the beer warms. ABV is 10% but hardly noticable.

Mouth feel is medium to low. The bitterness lingers after each sip.

Overall a surpisingly drinkable DIPA. Don't be afraid to pop this open alone you can definantly finish it.

Pours a big hazy tangerine with a massive off-white head. Nice lacing and beading. Pretty much everything about this is reminiscent of a Hopslam in my mind - big balanced pine and citrus, subdued booze undertones, with an exceedingly bitter afterbite. The beers drinks as easy as it can given the style. A tasty beer but, given the price, this is likely a one-time purchase.

Poured from tap into 10oz glass at Mugs in Brooklyn. Hazy golden almost turning slightly orange color with a finger of white head. Smell is piney grapefruit hops, but big malty nose. Taste is of serious hop - seems like a big IBU number here, but its almost muted by an aggressive malt bill. Very bready - almost Alt-like. Its a very easy drinker especially for the abv. Overall, this is a rollercoaster for me...looks ok, smells amazing, taste is ok, easy drinker...while its a good brew, I just dont think id ever get again ($$$).

poured from bottle into Stone IPA stemware

A - hazy golden-brown color with a fat, two-finger, dirty tan head that settled to a thick, foamy cap; tons of sticky lacing on glass; some sediment left in bottle

S - lemony citrus with a touch of pepper in background; some honey, pollen

T - this hit me in two distinct stages; the first stage has moderate tropical flavor of pineapple and peach; the next stage ratcheted up the intensity with more resiny hops and a strong bittering finish that practically coats the entire mouth; some solvent alcohol towards the finish

M - light-medium body with moderate, but active, fine carbonation; LONG bitter finish that lasts quite a while

O - not something that i would want to drink again but i don't like the over-the-top hoppy beers; high alcohol and palette killing bitterness make it a sipper

Purchased at Peabody's Wine and Beer in Boone, NC. Thanks Benny!

A - Nice light to medium amber color with a thick foam(1/2"). The lacing is very nice also. The beer is not tottally clear but that is ok with me.

S - Not a big hoppy, citrus smell but some big beers are like that and again that is ok with me.

T - A very nice hop taste that builds throught the taste, which mixes with some citrus and pine nut flavor. The build continues past the taste and is very satisfying.

M - Good mouthfeel, it is heavier than alot of double I-IPA's that I have had in the past. This beer ranges in the medium-heavy category with its thickness in viscosity with great last to the mouthfeel, a real enjoyment.

O - I really like this beer. There are better and alot worse beers out there in this vategory but this one hits a high note for me with the color, lacing, flavor, build in the taste like a burn if you will. When I find this beer again I will buy it.

Enjoyed this 12 oz bottle out of a large snifter glass.

A: Pours a copper hue with a thin white head that quickly dissipates leaving a decent trail and semi wispy lace.

S: Sweet malty aroma – almost barely-wine like with a decent hoppy profile.

T: Strong alcoholic malty flavor – again reminding me of a barley wine, slightly hoppy – but more malt than hops.

M: Heavy body and medium carbonation

O: Decent brew – more balanced to the malt than hops

Appearance: clear orange with a 1" head. Huge lace paints the glass during the session.

Smell: citrus and a sharp hop bitterness cuts through to the nose.

Taste: caramel, pears, big grapefruit flavors, sharp bitterness, and a mild alcohol tone creates a well balanced DIPA.

Mouthfeel : medium bodied. Crisp throughout with a dry finish. Long lasting aftertaste dominated by the bitterness.

Overall: a nicely refreshing and easy drink big DIPA. Definitely worth giving this one a try.

This is tasty double IPA if you like lots of flavor. It was a good first try for the Mikkeller beers for me. I enjoyed the overall flavors and texture of the beer. I poured it into a regular pint glass and two fingers of head arose along with the floral aromas and sweetness of the hops.

This is a smooth double imperial pale ale to say the least. I was impressed by the way it resonated in my mouth and the diversity of the flavors, an easy and refreshing drink for a 10% beer.
