Supposedly retired beer. Yet i got hold of a couple bottles recently. I cannot read the label. It's like when printing the labels....they started to run out of ink. And you're now left with faded words that are unreadable.
Pours dark with a very tiny medium golden-brown head. It smells of chocolate, tobacco and coffee with spices. And it tastes just like that. It's decently balanced so you can sustain sipping it through the end without it turning unfavorably on you. As I find some beers with certain spices will do. Especially if it's spiced with cloves (I suspect) or cinnamon. Another wards...not a fan of IPA's at all. Which are often spiced with cloves-cinnamon and combined with citrus fruits.
I bought it as a curiosity. And it's a fine Baltic Porter, and drinkable. But this particular one is not a brew I would crave to have often.
I like it...but not enthusiastic enough to stock up on this for regular drinking.

A 330ml bottle with a best before date of 16th August 2021. Poured into a snifter glass.
Appearance: Black in colour with a nice two finger brown head that had decent retention and left nice lacing.
Aroma: Chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, cinnamon and cloves. I want to say it kind of reminds me a bit of banana cake.
Taste: Starts sweet-ish before turning bitter especially on the finish. Dark fruit plums and prunes, roasted malts, smokey, char, dark chocolate, spices and a hint of vanilla.
Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with low carbonation.
Overall: Quite a nice Imperial Porter with spices, but perhaps a touch too much smoke and char for my liking.

12 oz pour from tap at local bar. Poured a very dark black with only a small almost yellow head around the edges of the glass. Large amount of black licorish in the scent with a boozy almost bourbon smell as well. There were a small amount of pepper spice in the taste with a fair amount of alcohol coming through as well. I really enjoyed sipping on this beer as it was heavy in the mouthfeel, but very drinkable. (review is from memory and I hope that this is the correct variation of what I had)

baltic porters are one of my favorite styles, and they are all too uncommon. this is a wonderful take on it, with a mild spice profile and a lot of character. not sure if the beers are all the same and just the labels are different, its been too long since i had any of the others to recall differences, but they are certainly real similar. its impressively layered beer, with notes of tobacco and smoke, licorice and spice, roast and char, chocolate and coffee, and of course plenty of booze. its got a great big body on it, but finishes remarkable dry, i just love that feature. its absolutely not over spiced, i can barely perceive any real spices added in, and i certainly cant identify them. maybe clove, it has a holiday flare to it, but i would not call it a beer specific to the christmas holiday. its just amazing cold weather beer, yeasty too, which i love in a lager, and which would be missing if it werent there. these age really well too, i wish i had another bottle to sit on for awhile. of of my favorite baltic porters out there, and one of the best beers in the advent calendar box this year.

Black color with dark brown head. Dark fruits and dark malts on the aroma. Taste starts balanced and fruity with blackberry and blueberry. Aftertaste is bitter and roasty. Really easy to drink and fruity.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 8/29/2019. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dark brown head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toasted dark bread, nuttiness, smoke, char, tobacco, leather, wood, pepper, light dark fruit/licorice, and herbal/roast/smokey earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready/smokey malt and moderate earthy hop/spice notes; with great strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, molasses, toasted dark bread, nuttiness, smoke, char, tobacco, leather, wood, pepper, light dark fruit/licorice, and herbal/roast/smokey earthiness. Moderate herbal/roasted/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, molasses, toasted dark bread, smoke, char, tobacco, leather, and herbal/roast/smokey earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready/smokey malt and moderate earthy hop/spice flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/silky, and bready/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an excellent spiced Baltic porter. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready/smokey malt and moderate earthy hop/spice flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

A: Dark black, pours like oil into the glass. Not penetrated by bright light. A finger of reddish rusty chocolate milk foam head.
S: Coffee, dark chocolate, molasses, a hint of tar, a hint of smokiness. Slightly fruity character.
T: Dark chocolate, coffee, tar, tobacco, snow, an almost rusty quality, burnt rubber, molasses.
M: Thick and oily with a light foamy carbonation.
O: Got this on Wishbeer delivered to Chiang Mai. Drank in Kunming April 2nd, 2015. Baltic porter, not really getting the Christmas quality or spices, but a nice change from what I’m used to.
