Small head, dark copper color or maybe a brown orange. Smell malt grapefruit, skunky, piney and cheesey
Taste, similar to smell.. Mostly a dank wet hop taste.
Mouthfeel- light carb lots of pine
Over all not bad but not that good.. Doesn't have a fresh hop taste... More dank and musky

330ml bottle from Beer Cartel, poured into a Mikkeller tulip.
Usual Mikkeller single hop colour of orange-amber with an off-white head of foam. Great foam retention and wavy lacing.
Smell is earthy with a touch of pineapple really helping this get by through sweetening it up. A little dank pine in the background as well.
Taste is earthy and like the smell relies, this time, on even fainter pineapple to help it along.
Mouthfeel is typical of the series, gritty, decent bodied and heavy at times. Not a tonne of bitterness with this...more oily to start with and some mid-bitterness and a heavier finish.
Possibly the most dull of the series. Wouldn't recommend. I do like the pineapple from the hop variety, but this needs a lot more.

Pours deep amber with a large, lasting head.
Nose shows caramel, pine and resinous hops. Also some nutty notes.
Similar flavours; caramel, sweet bready malt and nutty notes with heavy resinous pine following. Finishes with a bold bitterness.
Could use more carbonation.

A: The beer is clear light amber in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high light beige head that has very good retention properties and consistently left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: There are light to moderately strong aromas of orange citrus in the nose along with notes of pine resin.
T: The taste has initial flavors of orange citrus hops along with notes of caramel matls. Notes of pine resin hops are also noticeable through the finish. There is a moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is an interesting beer to try because Apollo hops are normally used for bittering and lend subtle amounts of hops to the smell and taste.

A clouded amber brew, an off-white head with little lacing but good curtains.
Smelling funky, cheese, fermented strawberries, nettles and resin.
Starting sweet toffee, cheese, grape-fruit, resin, oil and rubber.
Light carbonation, small bubbles, oily, a dry finish.
A complex, overpowering and intrusive hop character.

Poured with a tall, rocky, light brown head. Highly carbonated and effervescent. Half way through the beer and there is still a never ending quarter inch head.
Minimal aroma. Toffee/ caramel/ toast with a little orange, flowers, and pine.
I'm not a hop head, but I enjoy a firm bitterness. This hop is assertive and pleasant. Fruity and floral - pineapple, orange, herbs, and a little onion/ garlic/ pine edge. There's some sort of rye or bourbon and coffee/ roast flavor, too.
For a high alpha, single hop beer, the malt, carbonation, hop flavors, and ABV are very well balanced. This is a complex beer that leaves a great hop aftertaste behind making me want to drink more. I'd happily buy 6 packs of this beer if it wasn't 6$ per bottle!

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had an amber color and a clear consistency. There was an inch and a half of creamy, long-lasting head. Very good lacing.
S: Predictably, there was a hoppy aroma, along with traces of citrus as well.
T: Tasted of hops (a pretty fair amount), citrus (grapefruit), malt, and a slightly grainy quality. A solid flavor that's not too harsh or too weak.
M: A well-carbonated beer with a somewhat slick finish. Medium-bodied.
O: I've had so many of Mikkeller's Single Hop IPAs, they've all kind of run together. Nonetheless, this is a well done, drinkable beer.

Amber brown, better than average head and retention, not a lot of lacing. Slightly darker than your average American IPA, but otherwise about par for a normal IPA.
Big fruity citrus hop smell. Fair balance, good hop presence, not a lot of malt except for a touch of caramel sweetness.
The Apollo hop has a pretty good fruity, citrus flavor, with prominent notes of pine, resin, spice. I like the flavor profile. Good aromatics and flavor for a bittering hop. Exciting to get a taste of this, because I just ordered some Apollo hops online to brew. Slight caramel malt presence.
Mouthfeel is nothing spectacular. Good body, moderately smooth and slightly oily from the hops, could be slightly drier and more carbonated.
Gotta love this single hop series as a way to examine specific hop profiles. This is a good new American hop, and a fairly well executed IPA.

A: Dark Brown-orange opaque and hazy body. The beer pours with a yellowish-white head, tiny bubbles and decent head retention. Should be less hazy with better retention.
S: Extremely faint nose with some discernible caramel and citrus notes.
F: Sweet caramel maltiness hits the palette first with some nice citrus, earthy and floral notes that follow. Fairly complex for a single hop beer.
M: The beer rolls on the palette with medium body and a carbonation that compliments the hoppy character
Overall this is a well done IPA but Mikkeller needs to improve the aroma on their Single Hops.

Tap at Beer Deluxe. From notes.
A - Poured a hazy copper colour. Decent carbonation and one finger of light brown head. Rings of lace left over and a film of retention.
S - Boozy like most of the single hops I've tried. Pineapple, boozy fruitcake, and dark fruit with spirit notes.
T - Juicy, boozy pineappple. Really juicy. Fair bit of alcohol for the ABV. A little caramel. Way too boozy.
M - Good carbonation, medium body, good bitterness.
O/D - Not bad but not terribly good. A decent one but Apollo clearly isn't my thing. Seemed way too boozy and unappealing for a beer to look for. Odd.

A: Pours a mostly clear amber with a huge, pillowy off-white head.
S: Aromas of biscuits, caramel, lime, lemon, herbs, and navel orange are fleeting on the nose.
T: Notes of minerals, biscuits, caramel, lime, grass, lemon, pepper, white onion, and navel orange wash across the palate. The finish is earthy and bitter with intense citrus notes.
M: Medium in body and oddly slick compared to the other single hops from Mikkeller. Carbonation is decidedly firm.
O: For me, Apollo hops have always delivered a muddy rush of sharp bitterness and this is exactly what this ale does. Don't expect the flavors to separate for any length of time. It's just a bitter, hoppy ale that places an emphasis on earthy and fruity notes. It's decent enough, but lacks depth. I doubt I'll ever come back to this one.
