The beer pours a deep, dark brown, like black coffee. The beer forms an oddly small head of light tan bubbles that quickly move into a scrim atop the beer, leaving a sticky, sheet-like lacing on the glass. In body the beer is dark and opaque. On the nose, the beer smells richly of creamy French roast coffee. Touches of milk chocolate and dark chocolate dance on the edges of the smell, but this beer is very rich with the smell of French roast and cream. Soft fruity notes can also be detected, moving between raisin, chocolate-covered cherry, and plum as they meld with the coffee scents. On the tongue, the beer tastes sweet with a great balancing dose of bitter roast. Light acidity dances with the coffee flavors, but this beer is really all about the balance between the sweet and the bitter. The sweet covers chocolate and fruity flavors while the bitter remains nicely in the roast vicinity with little to no hop presence. In flavor, the beer tastes creamy sweet with a quick splash of black coffee and bitter chocolate that then explodes in flavors on the tongue. Touches of chocolate-covered cherries, raisins, and plums dance in the mid palate, but the beer’s finish is mostly blends smooth, roast coffee with creamer. The finish lasts a pleasantly middling length of time on the palate. The final hiccup of flavor as the beer washes away does present a touch more of sweet cherries with roast coffee, and the aftertaste is rich with chocolate-covered cherry flavors, which is awesome. In the mouth, the beer feels of a medium weight in body, with a smooth creamy mouthfeel that does display just a touch of roughness as it goes down. This roughness is not intense, nor astringent by any means, and is really just a gentle tug on the tongue, but it is a little off for me. The mouth is left with a lingering dry roast, though sweetness and saliva fill the cheeks. Overall, this is a great milk stout. I love the fruity character, and the chocolate-covered cherry flavor is heavenly. It could look a little better in the glass, and needs just a gentle tweak to its mouthfeel, but it is great example of the style and is worthy of a try.

A- Coal black, with pillowy tan head
S- Ummmm. Rich, but soft roasted malts. Chocolate milk.
T- Sweet, rich malt. Dark chocolate milk
M- Medium, could be a bit thicker

O- Smell and taste are spot on! Could be a tad thicker, but this is a pretty awesome milk stout

Really dark brown color with light brown head. Aroma is sweet, milky and chocolaty, even a bit hoppy. Taste starts slightly sweet, lactic and roasty on the finish. Body is medium, smooth with medium carbonation. Quite nice overall, not overly sweet, smooth and easy to drink.

Pours black with a large, lasting tan head.
Nose shows cocoa, milk chocolate, hazelnut pralines and roasted barley.
Very sweet flavours, cloyingly sweet in fact. Some roasted malt behind the sweetness but very weak.
Needs higher carbonation, body feels watery too.
Too much lactose by far.

330 ml bottle. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch and a half tan head that sticks around for a while. There's also a lot of lacing. The brew smells like roasted malt, bittersweet and milk chocolate, and some coffee. The taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also the addition of some vanilla. It's a good roasty and sweet tasting beer. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit slick, creamy and easy to drink. It's also well carbonated. I think it's a good brew overall, I'd like to try this one again at some point. $5.99 a bottle.

Pours a deep ebony color with a tight, tan head that leave chunks of lacing.

Smells of cocoa and sweet cream.

Tastes of chocolate notes layered over deep roasted note. Dark chocolate leads off with a bit of sweetness. Roasted notes come in with espresso and some roasted bitterness. Bread notes are present throughout. Leans towards the sweet side, as it finishes with some sweet cream notes.

Mouthfeel is medium with a smooth amount of carbonation.

Overall, this is a good milk stout, but the price ($5.60 for 12oz) doesn't make it a must try.

Served from the 11.8 ounce bottle into a 9 ounce miniature wine glass at 37F.

Excellent lacing texture and color for a milk stout. Not quite pitch black, but the head retention is perfect and it has that really attractive slightly dark tint to it.

Nose aroma is a rosey floral, followed by a very nice balance of marris otter and specialty malts. There is some sort of flowery and carmely sucrose fermentable that is synonymous with the Mikkeller brand as the main component of this milk stout, and whatever it is, it's amazing in a stout. By far the most dialed in session stout recipe in the industry.

The aforementioned floral, caramel, marris maltiness in this stout is so well balanced. The most surprising aspect of this stout though is how well it holds up taste wise, to sitting on the shelf. Granted I didn't purchase a shelf turd, but many of these specialty Mikkeller stouts really age well in their miniscule 11.8 ounce bottles on store shelves, for one reason or another.

Mouthfeel here is superb. Certainly some oats or heavier grains like spelt to really capture a velvety palate explosion. This milk stout is like drinking gourmet liquid Milk Duds if such a thing existed.

So yeah, if you've ever experienced Milk Duds as a kid on Halloween, this is the adult liquified version.

If you have the extra $$ to splurge every so often, then any of these Mikkeller Stouts should fit the bill dependant upon the %ABV range you are looking for. I am really impressed by the marketing structure of these products, as well as the quality. Much better than Evil Twin, as if there was ever aNY comparison.
