Pours a murky honey brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus zest, tropical fruit, and alcohol. Taste is much the same with a fruity flavor and an alcohol kick on the finish. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp yet sticky mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer but it's quite boozy and strong.

The pour is a hazed mahogany color with a tan head. Kind of a harsh nose to this. Alcohol, green apple, and perfume dominate the front end. Some mild tropical/pineapple aromas, a hint of acetone, and some overripe mango. Just a bit of caramel and toffee sweetness. The flavor is intensely sweet and sugary. Tons of caramel, brown sugar, and toffee. Some vanilla, mango, and quite a bit of papaya. Really heavy on the booze and green apple, tool.

There's so much smoked mozzarella pasta salad...oh yeah! Maybe later, though, 'cause now is the time for a balleyhoo'd brew (self-balleyhoo'd, really). It pours a mostly clear sunrise amber-garnet topped by a minor finger of glowing off-white foam. The nose comprises orange liqueur (more like Cointreau than Marnier, if you ask me), slightly overripe tropical fruit salad, powdered sugar, yams, clove, and a kiss of booze. However odd that may have sounded, it comes across mostly pleasantly to mine nose. Things go off the tracks, though, when the liquid hits the 'buds. The booze has transmogrified to straight acetone, which receives an assassination attempt from some metal-plated pineapples, guavas, and mangos. Not a pretty sight to begin with. Then some rowdy sweet bits join in the fracas, now resembling the inter-channel rumble from Anchorman, armed with clove and black pepper mills. I believe some overly-toasted wheat got caught in the crossfire, innocent blood spilled by the senseless anarchy surrounding it. Suffice it to say, my opinions on the proceedings were decidedly negative. The body is a weight-lifting medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a fluid feel. Overall, I think too much was going on here for the beer's own good. Another example of something sounding great on paper and in theory but failing pretty miserably in practice.

750ml bottle. The label is very reminiscent of early Pitfall video games, with Harry given the Mikkeller image treatment.
This beer pours a murky, dark ruddy amber hue, with three generous fingers of tight, finely foamy beige head, which leaves a solid array of patchy, Pangaea-esqe lace around the glass as it slowly ebbs away.
It smells of strong, break yo' kneecaps caramel malt, sweet, musky tropical fruit, boozy orange liqueur, further candy sugar notes, a subtle oakey woodiness, a sharp citrusy hoppiness, and some lurking metallic booziness. The taste is heavy caramel and toffee malt, some molasses and demarara syrup, rather boozy, varied fruity notes - orange citrus, some grapefruit and lime hop essences - surprisingly pungent anise, some soft raisin character, and still perceptible leafy citrus hops. The wild Brett is unfortunately too mild for any real showing.
The bubbles are quite mild, the body a sturdy medium heavy weight, and quite smooth in the morass. It finishes on the sweet side, with the edgy caramel malt, steady multi-pronged citrus, persistent tropical fruitiness, and understated alcohol sweetness really ruling the roost here.
Wow - the fruit character of this beer makes for an out there version of the style, even thought the base markers are all there - a slightly musty, big-ass maltiness, some musty hops, which are pretty well sublimated by the guest West Coast USA hop bitterness, and a decently blended booze quotient. An interesting venture, that's for sure - tasty, fruity, and subdued in its alcoholic nature - take that and swing with it, and get those hop cone tokens!

A - Off-white foam settles to a solid cap and thicker collar, leaving behind splotchy lacework. Opaque dark ruby body.
S - Interesting - there's a hefty dose of orange and tropical fruits, but it's from Grand Marnier barrels and brett claussenii in addition to the listed hops . There's some alcohol mixed in the cognac flavors, but it's not excessive for 11.4%, and the tropical funk character has a slightly medicinal note mixed in. Some spicy Belgian yeast and sharp toffee and red fruits from the quad. Perhaps a touch of oak as well.
T - The taste is significantly mellower, with more of the base quad showing up. Caramel and red fruit malts, with only light cognac sweetness and tropical brett. Even though there's a wide variety of fruity flavors, there is sufficient toasty and bready malt to keep things from getting cloying.
M - Medium body that seems a touch light for the ABV. Zesty carbonation, and a dry and mildly oaky and grainy texture. There's some alcohol warmth but nothing excessive.
D - Surprisingly good. I like the concept of throwing together every way to generate tropical fruit flavors in a beer (Simcoe and Citra hops, Grand Marnier barrels, and Brett C.). I'd actually consider buying this, although I'm not sure how gracefully it will age.

Pours a creamy brownish 1 finger head that fades slowly, with sticky lacing, mostly opaque mahogany copper brown color.
Nose is quite quad like, sweet malts, candi sugar, brown molasses and malts, plenty of cognac too, light vanilla oak barrel, light dank wood, an interesting tropical fruit aroma maybe the papaya but not really mango, fluffy biscuit caramel malts.
Taste starts with sweet brown malts, molasses, candi sugar, toffee, etc. Then Big Belgian brown malts, quad like for sure, plenty of warming and slightly tingly booze. Cognac come through with some booze as well but nice fruity cognac, sweet fruits, etc, and some vanilla and light woody barrel. Bitterness comes through with light spicy and tropical hops, and light tropical fruit again, very slightly mango and some papaya, and a light dankness. Just a hint of bready funk on the back end. Finish is still light, sweetness dries with some lingering booze, lots of chewy candi sugar, molasses candies, plenty of cognac and barrel, then finally mango, papaya, citrus poking through.
Mouth is big and complex, thick and rich, boozy but still drinks well with a little cognac heat, good carb all in all too.
Overall very complex, great, tasty, hides the booze well, nice malts, sweet flavors, barrel, cognac, tropical fruits as well. The wild Brett doesn't really come out yet, but I bet aging this will make it phenomenal.

Poured from the bottle into a snifter glass, much thanks Ed, at Churchkey DC.
A real nice wonderful chestnut body, with a creamy tan head. Some see through character but still quite dark off the pour with barely any lacing at all. Real nice color.
Nose is big large, but in control. Expressive notes of dark fruit plum and raisin at first. Woody like tannic heat and very soft mild brett. Round oak character, with everything balanced. Extremely impressive.
Taste is a big kapow of flavor. First is a large mix of licorice, not so much fennel as the thickness brings out more power, then melding to large sticky butterscotch toffee. Rolling salty caramel in the mid palate with a large sweetness, and the finish goes down velvety with tropical mush notes of fruit of real varied character.
This is a very impressive beer, for a style I usually don't care for, with taste profiles that aren't always are my favorite. But this is some seriously well crafted beer here.

Dark brown, deep red.mahogany highlights. Voluminous tan head, great lace and retention. Nose of baked apple pie innards, chocolate, sweet syrupy quad character. Tropical qualities are quite mild I thought. Taste of tropical fruits, syrup, dark candi sugar interrupted by alcohol. Oak then appears with more tropical and cognac spirit barrel character into the finish. Full sticky feel, lower carbonation. Sweetness is a bit much for me. An interesting beer in all regards, not spectacular but a crazy offshoot of a style that I appreciate. A big sipper though...

A dark brown with red highlights when held to the light, nice large tan head starts off three fingers high and slowly falls to an island leaving lots of soapy lace, pretty sexy looking brew
S lots going on in this department, the tropical fruits work well, more papaya then mango and a little some caramel apple and faint citrus, loads of caramel, brown sugar and not the funk I was expecting after reading Brett on the bottle but there's some faint funky fruity notes. There's some woody notes from the barrel that mingle with all the other aspects, my only complaint is the booze needs too mellow
T more fruit and the caramel comes out heavy, a little more barrel and the booze that comes with it, fairly sweet and the booze is holding this one back
M thick and syrupy with good carbonation and its pretty sticky on the lips, the booze goes right to my chest, shes a little hot
O perhaps a little high here but I really liked this beer its really only the booze holding this one back, its an original concept and the fruit and barrel just compliment each other so well this was a good idea
I'm pretty pissed at myself for opening this one young, I could really see this becoming something absolutely amazing down the road. Oh well I enjoyed it today but I had my chance to stock up but at 30$ a bottle I only had the balls to buy one blind, oh well.

A: poured a dark brown in color with burgundy highlights and a finger of brown head that left a little lacing sticking to the glass.
S: very tropical fruity aroma upfront with citrus orange notes, not really too much bretty funk to speak of but did have the grand marnier liquer barrel character, the booze was really coming through with brown sugar, toffee, and molasses sweetness.
T: sweetness consisting of brown sugar, molasses, toffee with a touch of vanilla was more apparent on the palate alongside papaya mango fruit accents, good grand marmier barrel character which added some good cognac dimension but was quite boozy and slight pear notes. The bretty funk was really muted in the flavor as well.
M: the brew was medium to full in body with a good amount of carbonation which had a sweet, booozy, tropical fruity, marnier barrel, citrusy and silky finish.
O: very good beer all around except it was a little too boozy for my liking. maybe a little time might do some justice to it.

This is a must try based on the description on the label alone.
This beer pours a really soft and full bodied dark hazelnut brown in color with a very creamy, two finger light beige head. It looks fantastic. The nose has to be the most complex nose imaginable for a quad. It features candied sugar, raisins, Belgian yeast, figs, orange peel, cognac, mango, papaya, kiwi, and plum. The flavors are complex as well. There is plent of bready dark malts with the nice fruity mix of papaya, mango, orange peel, kiwi, and slight cherries. Again, the Grand Marnier complements everything very nicely. It drinks exceptionally smooth and has great flavor throughout. For being 11.4% you'd never know it. Overall this was an outstanding beer. I wasn't expecting this to be such a well polished final product so am very happy that the description could match the drinking experience. This is a must try if you have the opportunity. Great collaboration.

Shared a bottle of this with JLindros at his last whale tasting. Picked up at Hunger Mountain Co-op in VT. Reviewed from notes.
A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a slightly hazy deep brownish chestnut hue with a one finger mocha head that just doesnt really go away. Leaves absurdly thick side lacing. Never before have I seen lacing like this. The glass is awash with it. Absolutely incredible.
S - Lots of cognac, sweet malts, light belgian notes, faint papaya, no mango though.
T - Hot cognac, barrel wood, sweet malts, molasses. Those are all strong and potent, after though citra hops try to come through along with dried fruits (papaya and mango) which linger heavily. No brett though....yet! Overpowered by alcohol heat.
M - Mouthfeel is not too hot surprisingly. 11%+ is pretty crazy. Drinks awesome for an 11.4% ABV beer, mild cognac heat, good carbonation.
O - Overall this was an absolutely delicious beer. Wanted to try this one since I first saw the label. Glad I have two more bottles.
