A great beer on tap at When Pigs Fly.

In a snifter the beer was a hazy apricot color with a small head. Still, there was a good amount of lace.

Pleasant aroma of citrus and tropical fruit. Some caramel. Piney hops.

Taste of grapefruit, melon, and mango. Some cloves. Piney hops late. All this with a caramel/toffee background. Great taste.

This was a very balanced beer. Hoppy, but not excessively so. Never noticed the alcohol.

Loved this beer!

750 mL bottle poured into a pint glass.

Appearance - Hazy orange body. Excellent fluffy white head with a sustained layer of surface foam. Great lacing inside the glass.

Smell - Great floral hop aroma. Tropical fruit in there too. Sweet malts. Slightly herbal hop aroma.

Taste - Bright citrus. Less floral, more tropical. Still maintains a bit of that herbal character. Sweetness throughout, but it gets toastier in the finish with a moderate bitteness.

Mouthfeel - Medium to medium heavy. Well carbonated. Enjoyable but on the thick side.

Overall - I was very surprised by how good this was. Unfortunately I'll probably never see it again. One of the best Mikkeller offerings I've had.

Perhaps the first DIPA I've ever had that I preferred a bit warm and therefore near the end of the bomber. It poured a beautiful dark orange with a significantly hefty head. The nose was resinous, piney, with a mass of sticky lupilin and honey. The flavor, as it warmed, showed some sweet orange, grapefruit sourness, lupilin, full floral hop cone, honey and a significant caramel malt finish. The feel is dry and astringent with some alcohol heat that simmers to a low roar as it warms.

1 PT 9.4 FL. OZ bottle
Served in a tulip glass

A - It is cloudy and orange with golden highlights. Each pour yields about four inches of head.

S - I get some grapefruit and orange. I smell a little bit of peach too.

T - The taste is loaded with fresh grapefruit. It finishes with a bitter juniper flavor.

M - Medium

O - I never know what to expect from Mikkeller. I either love their beers or dislike them. This one is a good one. It has tons of citrus flavor and the pine finish is great. It is a very refreshing IIPA. It is a little pricey, but it did come all the way from Denmark is still tastes fresh.

This is an IPA. I can hardly pinpoint it.

It pours a nice yellow. I can't think of any smell, neither of any taste. It is a good IPA, yet there is nothing special about it.Mikkeller does make some good stuff. This is their good stuff. Nothing to go crazy about, nothing to search around. Just a good old IPA.

A- Pour out of the 750ml bottle to a few snifters with a yeast-ridden hazy golden body. Puffy, frothy white head builds up to just over a finger high. The cap retains well but eventually dies down to a creamy ring. Deposits of thick lacing sheets at the top with drizzle and spots following that.

S- Hops lead the way but there seems to be a decent yeast base to this brew. It could just be a larger than usual dose of spicy hops but it reminds me of a cleaner Belgian yeast. Beyond that hops bring stone fruit, wine grape, grapefruit, pineapple, citrus zest and floral notes.

T- A large punch of hops leads the way in the flavor as in the nose. Once again there is something that feels Belgian about this and it almost reminds me of Merica by Prairie in a way. It seems like there is Nelson, or similar, in here with a grape and tropical fruit feel. Stone fruits, grapefruit, oranges, heavy floral, herbal and stronger than most American IPA spicy hops all hit the taste buds. Light cracked grains and some yeast fruit feel.

MF- Body is somewhere between moderate and light thickness and it reminds me of the body of some Saisons. Somewhat creamy and frothy texture overall with high end carbonation which works with the hops. Finishes with a nice bitterness.

Mikkeller keeps getting better and better for me. It started off kind of rough with the prices and some of the early brews but he is pumping out a lot of great beers lately. I like the hop profile here, it isn't just juicy citrus hops but has more depth with a spicy floral feel. Wondering what yeast is used here.
