A: The beer is extremely dark red in color - so dark that it almost appears to be black. It poured with a quarter finger high dark pink head that gradually died down, leaving a large collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderately strong aromas of cherries are present in the nose along with hints of sourness.
T: Like the smell, the taste is packed with flavors of sour cherries as well as oak from the barrel aging.
M: It feels light-bodied and rather tart on the palate with a low to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I really enjoyed this lambic because it had bold flavors of sour cherries from the Frederiksdal Estate. It's definitely an interesting beer to try.

On tap at the Pour House in Exton.
Appearance: Murky maroon. Really quite unappealing looking. Maybe I just expect every cherry lambic to look like Cantillon Kriek?
Nose: Cherry pie that's been sitting in a basement. It's musty and funky with lots of rich sweet cherries and a good dose of baking spice.
Taste: Tart cherries come first, with a nice accent of mellow baking spice. There's a good bit of horsey, barnyard flavors in the middle and a nice, easy-going cherry danish finish. It's really quite good and is one of the better tasting Cherry lambics I've had.
Mouthfeel: Falls a bit flat and watery here. More carbonation and body would help.
Overall: A nice sour ale here. I really enjoyed the baking spices and pure cherries flavors as well as the more intense funkiness that you don't get on traditional Krieks. Makes me want to try more of the Mikkeller Spontan- series.
