On tap at the Pour House in Exton.
Appearance: Murky maroon. Really quite unappealing looking. Maybe I just expect every cherry lambic to look like Cantillon Kriek?
Nose: Cherry pie that's been sitting in a basement. It's musty and funky with lots of rich sweet cherries and a good dose of baking spice.
Taste: Tart cherries come first, with a nice accent of mellow baking spice. There's a good bit of horsey, barnyard flavors in the middle and a nice, easy-going cherry danish finish. It's really quite good and is one of the better tasting Cherry lambics I've had.
Mouthfeel: Falls a bit flat and watery here. More carbonation and body would help.
Overall: A nice sour ale here. I really enjoyed the baking spices and pure cherries flavors as well as the more intense funkiness that you don't get on traditional Krieks. Makes me want to try more of the Mikkeller Spontan- series.

On-tap at Northdown. Served in a tulip.
A - Purple-tinged foam settles to a thin collar and wisps. Dark red-purple body.
S - Massive black cherry aroma, with a mix of yogurt tang to it and some sweet graham cracker malt. The cherries are a tiny bit medicinal. Pie-esque, and only mildly funky and sour.
T - The taste has a bit more tartness to it, but it's very much cherry juice at this stage with a hint of mild lactic acidity. No alcohol, which is a surprise for the listed 8.2%. Finish is a bit flaccid and weak.
M - Super dry, with lower carbonation; a tad watery. Some dry and tannic oak. Again, minimal alcohol presence.
D - Easy to drink for an 8.2% beer, but a tad mono-dimensional. Taste starts strong but peters out and leaves me strangely unsatisfied. Still, this was significantly better than Spontankriek.
