Formerly Årh Hvad
Årh Hvad?! is Danish for 'Say What?' However, when pronounced in proper Danish, it also sounds a lot like the word 'Orval', a Trappist brewery I’m sure you guys have heard of. It is hopped four times with Styrian Goldings hops. The fermentation is done with two yeast strains, one of which is brettanomyces. Sometimes barrel aged versions of this are released, they have included: Chardonnay, Grand Marnier, Sauterne, & St. Emilion. This version is not barrel aged.

This Belgian pale ale pours an opaque brownish copper color with a somewhat large off white head. The smell is pretty fruity with citrus, pear, and grape making an appearance, there are some light spice and yeast notes, and it's kind of funky and sour as well, like a mild Brett scent. The flavor has all the standard Belgian pale ale fare: yeast, spices, grains, a little fruitiness, which in this case diverges a bit to the aforementioned fruits, but there are also some non-standard flavor notes. There is a mild, but significant sourness to it that is wild ale reminiscent, a bubble gum flavor, and there is a vegetal earthy flavor in the finish that combines with an extreme dryness. The finish is also mildly bitter. The body is medium. This beer certainly doesn't lack complexity, but complexity alone is not always a good thing. I find this beer confusing and I would much prefer a Belgian pale ale that is simpler, but well composed (e.g. Orval, etc.)

Amber color, huge head. Pour this one in a wide mouth goblet! (Orval glass?) I poured it into a Chimay chalice. This is Mikkeller's take on Orval and they have done a nice, job. Spicy, pepper, hop sack, leather, a very dry finish. A nice interpretation on the classic. Recommended.

I have to CANgratulate imbibehour or whomever built/modified this entry since they even got the oddball diacritical mark on the first letter of this beer's name correct. I am on a bit of a kick to try & get names of beers correct since otherwise, it leads to CANfusion. This is a public service message brought to you by The CANQuest (tm).
From the CAN: "Belgian Pale Ale".
A 500-ml CAN is nothing to sneeze at so I Crack!ed it open & CANmenced a slow, gentle Glug so as to avoid a mess. It returned the favor by forming two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, light-tan head with very good retention that left behind nice lacing as it slowly fell. Color was Deep Amber/Light Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with NE-quality clarity. Nose had a slightly funky wild yeast character & the CAN identified it as including Brettanomyces yeast. Hmm. It was evident, but not overwhelming on the nose. Let us proceed & see how it tastes. Mouthfeel was medium, nothing exciting or untoward. The taste was different from most that I have had in the style, so I looked at the site's Style Guidelines & this was the crucial part: " Flavors and aromas will vary." Yes, it was markedly different from most Belgian Pale Ales that I have had, but since they seemed to be trying to mimic Orval, I would say that this was a very good effort. It was quite dry, as Brett will do to a beer, but not so funky or dry as to be puckering, which I find unpleasant. This was still within my spectrum of enjoyment. Finish was likewise dry & while I did not want water right afterwards or with it, one was sufficient for my purposes. YMMV.

A 330ml bottle with a best before date of 23rd October 2023. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass.
Appearance: A hazy dark orange, copper, amber colour with a huge two finger fluffy off white head that kept growing out the glass with great retention and lots of sticky lacing.
Aroma: Tart berries, brett, funky, grape with hints of white wine and citrusy mandarin, orange on the back end.
Taste: Lightly sour to start with berries, plum, orange, pine, pepper spice and florally with a lightly bitter finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium to light bodied with low to moderate carbonation.
Overall: This was interesting as it was created as a tribute to Orval, and while there are some similarities, I still preferred Orval (which I had side by side) and which I felt had a smoother and better flavour profile.

On-tap served in a stemmed glass at Mikkeller, Bangkok.
Hazy deep amber copper color, it comes with one and a half finger of frothy off-white head that stands with decent retention before sinking to some bubble film atop and leaving some spotty lace on the glass-side, high visible carbonation.
Nice fruity aroma of grape and berry as well as some tart and winy note, some funky and musty yeast together with sour plum, honey, caramel, biscuit, subtle hint of spicy alcohol, and candy sugar.
The taste is led by sourness and tartness of plum, grape and berry with some good hop quality reflecting by rather bold hop bitterness. Yeast still plays an important role providing funky and musty note while biscuity malt is only in the background. Finish with solid dryness like a wine quality.
Medium body with rather low carbonation and some crisp through the palate, semi-smooth mouthfeel, finish is very dry.
Not that something ground-breaking but still a quality brew.

Less than moderate pour yields a huge, slightly off white, fluffy head over an amber body with nice, sticky lacing. This is one gorgeous head! Nose of citrus, slight brett funk, and a little spice. As it warms a blue cheese funk comes out. Taste follows the nose with a spicy dryness. Nice feel and overall, this is one of Mikkel's best!

Brewed in June 2016.
The colour is gold-brown; the liquid clear. The four finger head is airy an beige; it sinks down with a fizzing sound leaving some lacing on the glass.
The complex smell got notes of sour dough, horse stables, some toffee/cookies and fresh meats. Hop bitterness and exotic spices in the background.
The taste got distinct Brett notes of stable, old wood and sandal wood. Sweet almonds and matured cheese. Passing clean bitterness, some dried fruits and a hint of vanilla. Oak wood, bitter herbs, old cheese and some lime cookies in the aftertaste. The smooth long finish got notes of fruit drops, hay and bitter almonds.
The carbonation is strong, almost sharp. The many mid-size long lived bubbles tickle the tongue. The liquid is rather light.
If I remember Orval correctly, this one is a bit more bitter, less funky and complex with a bit too sharp carbonation. Not a bad clone, but still a clone.

Colour very ugly, copper brown, turbid. Foam ecru, fine to medium grained, moderately durable. Sweet fruity aroma with dried and fresh fruit, candied sugar, licorice, fried fruit, vanilla. After warming appear Stable flavor notes associated with an orchard full of ripe fruit, slightly rotten fruit. The taste in the foreground a clear stable. is the village with the amazing aromas and flavors, again vanilla, licorice, dried fruit. Bitterness quite intense and long, perfectly here finds, it is a dried fruit.
